Lovely stay, comfortable while feeling close to nature
9.0Pretty and peaceful setting but close to lots of local amenities. Very helpful staff. We had the most basic room but it was comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed.

Even Faulty Towers has a restaurant and would have been a better stay, rude.
1.0There was no restaurant despite being a hotel, there was no free breakfast despite being advertised on Booking.com app. The room's carpet was disgusting and the bathroom was dirty together with black mould, fractured sink and toilet unable to flush properly. Springs coming through on the bed with head board falling off during the night, had about 3 hours sleep, appauling.
− The manner is which i was challenged by the manager/owner, sticking his foot in the door of my room and refusing to leave was abusive of his power and rude.

− The lack of a kitchen at a hotel in a semi-rural location is extremely odd. You cannot get a breakfast on site nor even a drink outside your room until the bar opens at 5. There are cafes, restaurants and pubs but these are 10-15 mins walk or 5 -10 mins drive away, the cafes don't open until 9 and close at 4 so if you want a breakfast or a light meal outside those hours you are out of luck - my wife and I resorted to buying sandwiches at the local Tesco the night we arrived. In many ways the Ivy feels like it's gone down market, the lack of staff, the quality of linen & the occasional sign of poor maintenance are all very disappointing in a hotel we have stayed at many times over the years. We won't be coming back until we hear that things have improved.
