I have travelled to many places in Europe and the world over the past 15 years. The Castello di San Marco is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed at. The hospitality was excellent, and the hotel itself is one-of-a-kind. The environment is peaceful, restful, natural, and it's just a short 5-minute walk to a quiet pebble beach. Rooms are authentic, comfortable, well-air-conditioned, lovely, and clean.

Terrible room condition and disrespectful staff - unacceptable for 4 star hotel

We chose Castello San Marco for a short getaway, expecting a pleasant experience and the 4-star service we paid around €250 per night for. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a massive disappointment from the very first minute. The negative experience started right at check-in. The reception staff, particularly a receptionist named Cinzia / Ginzia, was cold, unfriendly, and clearly showed her irritation. She made us feel like an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. A vacation starts with communication, and the front desk staff here desperately need hospitality training to understand how to treat customers. Her disrespectful attitude completely ruined our mood. Things only got worse when we entered the room. We never expected a 4-star hotel room to be in such a neglected, dirty, and unsafe condition: - An electrical outlet was literally coming out of the wall, leaving a dangerous open gap. This is a severe safety hazard! - The bath towels provided in the room were old, worn out, and had visible holes in them. - The emergency cord in the shower was covered in black mold. - The shower mixer was cracked and broken. - The AC remote control was damaged and cracked. - At times, there was a foul odor in the room caused by drainage issues. I am attaching the photos so everyone can see what "4-star luxury" looks like here. To make matters worse, I know that during high season (August/September), the price for this room jumps to around €400 per night. Please think twice before spending your money on this place. Historical charm cannot excuse terrible room maintenance, torn towels, and condescending staff. I am absolutely certain that for this price, you can find a much better alternative nearby where you will be treated with respect and given a safe, clean room.

Ein stilvolles und liebenswertes Hotel in der Nähe von Taormina

Sehr freundliches Personal, sauberes schönes Zimmer, gepflegtes stilvolles Anwesen mit Pool, Bars und Restaurant. Ein tolles Extra ist die Möglichkeit, das Elektroauto auf dem eigenen Parkplatz (mit PV-Anlage!) aufzuladen. Schade, daß wir nicht die Zeit hatten, das vielversprechende Restaurant auszuprobieren.

− Der Strand besteht aus groben Steinen und ist nicht besonders einladend, es gibt außer Liegestühlen keine Wassersport- oder sonstige Angebote. Das ist schade, denn rund um das Hotel ist nichts los, man muss fahren.
