8.0Very close to some lovely restaurants and a stones throw from the waterfront. A great location for those wanting to be out of the hustle & bustle on Hastings St but still be connectable by ferry, bus or a short drive by car.
− Our apartment fronted the main road so the traffic noise was quite loud.
If we had known to bring our own supplies, we could have avoided the disappointment. The place itself is beautiful.
7.0The apartment itself was lovely, clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed our stay overall. However, a few things made the experience less enjoyable.
− The main issue was the checkout requirements. The listing didn’t mention that guests had to take out the rubbish and start the dishwasher, and we were only told about this at check-in. We then received two emails warning about a $50 fee if we didn’t do it. This meant that instead of simply enjoying the last part of our holiday, I had to worry about rubbish and the dishwasher before leaving. I think these requirements should be clearly explained before booking. We also found the supplies quite limited: only one face/hand towel and one set of toiletries for two adults, no extra rubbish bags, and almost-empty salt and pepper. When I asked about this, I was told that only a starter kit is provided. I understand that it’s a self-catering apartment, but for a two-night stay, it seems unreasonable to expect guests to buy basic items like rubbish bags, shampoo, salt and pepper—especially when this wasn’t made clear before booking. The apartment itself was great, but the unexpected requirements and limited supplies made us feel less welcome than we expected.
