I loved the location of the hotel. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. I benefited from being able to use the suitcase room. Our shower did not work on the second day but the staff was very helpful and offered multiple solutions for us until they were able to fix the water pressure the next day.

− I was not a fan of the breakfast but they did have a lot of options with both hot and cold foods. I look more for pancakes or waffles which they did not have. They did have oatmeal and fresh baked pastries. They had more of an English breakfast style with hot beans, eggs, and sausages.

Filthy room

Filthy. The desk chair was so badly stained we did not sit on it once. One night table smelled like piss. There were brown stains in the curtains. There was dust, sand and filth under the bed and in door treshold crevices etc. Shower sealant was moldy. Bed sheet had holes in it. The hotel has not seen renovations since the 90’s by the looks of it. And that would OK: hotel can have older furniture etc. as long as they are well maintained and clean. Which is not he case in Klettur. We will never stay there again, that’s for sure. I’m surprised there are so many overly positive reviews in Tripadvisor… The breakfast was pretty basic, 2 out of 5, but the problem was it was at the max capacity every morning and plates, utensils and different food items were running out before the staff could replace them. Customers were supposed to bring their dirty dishes to carts themselves, something not everyone did. Only positive was the parking carage (free if you book directly online). The main street is a kilometre away, so debatable if that is a walking distance. One of the best restaurants in town, Reykjavik Kitchen, was just 2 minutes walk away. In conclusion: one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in, both globally and in Reykjavik where I have stayed in several different hotels. I would advice the management to make an effort.

Great staff and accomodation

Had a great stay before flying back home. The rooms are clean and quiet. Location is convenient and very close to the main street (Laugavegur).
