− De kamer was niet schoon. Er lagen motten in de badkamer en ook dode insecten op de vloer in de slaapkamer.

8.0The hotel is beautiful, with an imposing exterior and very nicely furnished, large rooms. The walk down to the lock side is pleasant. Everything was extremely clean and comfortable and staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurant served lovely meals and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening. Breakfast was tasty, despite the issues cited below.
− Our experience was slightly marred by problems at breakfast. They seemed to have a staffing issue, which led to extensive delays giving our order, and lengthy periods without things like milk and fruit juice being replenished. Our breakfast came missing several significant things, and with a poached egg that was solid. Staff brought a replacement for the missing items separately, which was a little awkward. This was followed by a problem with our bill, which included someone else's drinks from the night before. This was rectified swiftly, but together these reduced the enjoyment of what would otherwise have been an excellent stay.
Very enjoyable stay in well presented and comfortable surroundings.

Wunderschöner Aufenthalt in einem schottischen Hotel der Extraklasse
10.0Wir sind nach längerer, regenreicher Fahrt im Knockderry Countryhouse angekommen. Es war beim Anblick dieses wunderbaren Hotels sofort ein "Wow"-Effekt. Wir wurden sehr herzlich begrüßt. Die holzvertäfelten Räumlichkeiten, die kunstvoll bemalten Fensterscheiben - es ist wirklich etwas ganz besonderes. Zum Glück hatten wir im Restaurant auch Abendessen reserviert - gleich für zwei Abende - absolut köstlich und überzeugend. Die Küche ist großartig und so war auch das Frühstück. Wer das Besondere in Schottland sucht, ist hier richtig.
− LEider waren wir sparsam und hatten ein "kleines Doppelzimmer" gebucht. Es war hübsch, mit Ausblick in den bewachsenen Garten hinten, was dem Ganzen einen Anstrich von Dornröschen verlieh. Leider heißt "klein" auch ein kleines Bett und nicht King - oder Queensize. WIr haben dann andere Zimmer gesehen - die sind der Hammer. Man kann dort auch tatsächlich leben wie in einem Schloss. Es lohnt sich also, im Knockderry Country House nicht am Zimmer zu sparen und kein kleines Doppelzimmer zu buchen.
