Good stay, friendly staff, very impressive F&B machinery
8.0Needed a short getaway from Delhi-NCR and booked a two night, all meals inclusive stay at the Taj Agra. It's large property with 200+ rooms, that remains busy during the week with banquet events and on weekends with domestic tourists such as myself. I'd requested for an early check-in, which was provided without any issues. I found the room spacious & comfortable and the staff very friendly & hospitable. I was kept entertained by the two swimming pools on the property. The rooftop pool is infinity-style and offers a view of the Taj Mahal, while the pool on the 2nd floor is smaller and sans view, but is slightly deeper, less busy and also open later than the rooftop pool. However, the main attraction of my stay was the all-day dining restaurant Palato. Serving an impressive selection of 70+ dishes through buffets at breakfast, lunch and dinner, Palato is a delight for foodies such as myself. To be able to churn out so many dishes flawlessly, so many times a day, every day, feeding close to 500 people at each meal, is a credit to the F&B machinery of the hotel! But what was even more than the restaurant and the food it churned out was the quality of its staff. Starting from its chefs Ashish and Ravi, to the restaurant managers Prabhat and Jafar, to its wait staff (Ankit, Karan, Lata and Pratyush to name a few), everyone was extremely attentive & hospitable and made me feel like a VIP. After a few disappointing stays at some bigger name Taj properties, the attention & pampering I received at the Taj Agra, specifically at Palato, reminded me what Taj hospitality is truly capable of! The only point of improvement I can state for the hotel is the addition of a games room for the massive tourist inflow it receives over the weekend. Despite identifying itself as a business hotel! :)
Great hotel a few pointers
9.0The location, the food, the staff. Main attraction was the view of the Taj from the roof terrace swimming pool.
− Fire le number of staff in the ground floor restaurant there was long wait. We asked for things which either did not come or was incorrect. It the room is booked for for then we should not have only two towels. The main issue for me was house staff and others on their personal phones talking or texting. I would not expect in my office for staff to be on the phone for personal reasons. Just a bad look
