Terrific stay at the Kimpton Wilshire during our annual father and son train trip!

My son and I have taken 1:1 train trips every summer for the past twelve years, and our trip this summer included a delightful two-night stay at the Kimpton Los Angeles Wilshire Boulevard. Our room was very modern and comfortable, the hotel's location is amazing (we walked five minutes to the Petersen Automotive Museum on one day and five minutes to the Academy Museum on the second day) and the rooftop restaurant and bar were exceptional. I enjoyed drinks at the bar on both evenings we stayed overnight, and my son and I enjoyed a delicious dinner the afternoon after we checked out, and before we headed back to the train station to catch our 10:00 pm train to Houston. The housekeeping team did exemplary work in keeping our room fresh throughout. I'm looking forward to returning soon with our whole family!

We stayed at the Kimpton for its proximity to the LACMA, the Peterson and La Brea Tar Pits. The hotel was conveniently located in mid-Wilshire, near the new Fairfax/Wilshire D line subway and there were two lovely breakfast restaurants within 1/4 mile. The downside is that there were several boarded up businesses between the hotel and the subway and we were a tad uncomfortable with the number of unhoused in front of the boarded up businesses. We have been to many major cities and this seems to be a constant these days. Our first room was beautifully appointed, until we saw the bathroom. The shower/tub combination was so tall that I could barely climb in - the way the door opened kept me from sitting on the edge and turning into the tub and it was slippery. We asked to change rooms and the hotel was accommodating, however, we had to wait for guests to check out before we could be given a new room. We stored our luggage in my sister's room while we went sightseeing. We changed rooms for the second night and got a walk in shower and after that everything was perfect. I would recommend asking for an eastern facing room or one without a shower/tub combination. The hotel has a restaurant on the roof with a small pool and the food there was excellent and the view was tremendous! There is only valet parking and it is $40 per night and the driveway only allows for one car in or out at a time. A place to park while checking in and out would be helpful.

Small but comfortable room with nice location near museums

Despite being on a busy street, the hotel was quiet except for a bit of walking noise from above us. I appreciated being able to walk to LACMA and La Brea tar pits down the street a few blocks. The room was relatively small, but it had all of the things that we needed.  It might feel a bit cramped for a longer stay for two people. It was clean and the housekeeping service was appreciated for our two night stay. There was a safe and a frig (restricted to minibar items).  The bathroom had a magnifying mirror that I liked. There was coffee available on the second floor; I would have liked in room coffee.  There was no onsite gym. The rooftop bar had beautiful views of the mountains; the food was good, but courtesy of the service could be improved.   I would prefer an onsite gym and in room coffee. I would stay here again.

− Non clarté dans ce qui est compris et ce qui ne l’est pas Accessibilité aux échanges de communication (langue différente) … je ne demande pas de parler notre langue mais de parler doucement pour que nous comprenions mieux. Établissement séparer d’avec le restaurant et petit déjeuner.

We love this hotel! The staff is kind, the rooms clean and comfortable and a great location to restaurants, bars, activities, etc. We are here for the second time in the last few months due to issues with water damage in our home. They have been very accommodating.
