The best part of the hotel is the pools and the pirates

6.0

We stayed in suite 234 for 7 days in July, the total cost of our holiday was around £3,200 for the three of us (2 adults, 1 child). We booked a suite so my 4 year old daughter could sleep in her own room rather than on a sofa bed in our room. We were all inclusive and our room consisted of a very large bed, a sofa, fridge, microwave, kettle, a few cups and glasses, bedside units, wardrobe and a TV. There was also a balcony overlooking the pool with 2 plastic chairs and a plastic table. The other room was small but cute for kids, it had 2 sets of bunk beds and some storage for clothes etc. and a TV. The bathroom was in the corner of our room and consisted of a walk in shower and toilet. Then two sinks (an adult and a kids) outside the bathroom door, in our main room. The aircon was fantastic and kept the whole suite nice and cool all day every day, it was so refreshing entering after being outside in the heat. The kids room had a light dimmer with different coloured light settings which my daughter enjoyed, I thought this was a nice touch. However, the kids room was on the side of the hotel facing the main road and it was VERY noisy 24/7. There was a sliding door to separate our room from hers. When entering the suite it was the kids room we entered into first. The door to the suite didn't seem to close properly (it locked, but there was a gap around the seal of the door, so I had to push a heavy object against the door to hold it tightly closed at night to lessen the sound). The kids room was also very light due to the outside lights outside the door (which we were unable to turn off) so we hung a blanket over the door at night to make the room darker. The fridge in our room would hum noisly all night, and the walls were very thin so we could hear the neighbours word for word although I think they were being particularly loud which didn't help. We found the wardrobe space quite small which wasn't helped by an old disused safe remaining in situ. When the people in the suite above us showered it sounded like heavy rain coming through our ceiling. The bathroom isn't private at all, the walls are glass and only parts of the glass are frosted, so we basically watched and heard each other using the toilet and shower every time. We had to pay to rent the safe which we hardly used because it was barely attached to the wall so it didn't seem very secure at all. The sofa was positioned against the same wall as the TV, next to the sinks and directly opposite the bathroom, so we never used it and I can't imagine people wanting to sit there. The room was cleaned 5 out of 7 days but all they really did was make the bed, replace the towels and empty the bin, and by the end of our stay the floor was filthy. Apart from that the suite felt very clean when we checked in and I've seen reviews about it being run down but it didn't feel run down to me. We didn't use the TVs so can't comment on those, the balcony was nice to sit out on and we had a reasonable view of the stage for the shows. The hotel looks impressive from the outside and upon entering the pirate theme continues throughout. The place was really clean and we saw cleaners there all the time during the day. There are kids toilets beside reception/a short walk from the pool area, these are super cute and include baby baths and kid sized toilets, although the boys toilet was out of order the full week we were there. The pool area is very impressive, with 5 different pools (4 almost adjoin one another, with a good sized adult pool, a baby pool, and 2 medium sized pools) and the 5th is over the other side and has several water slides although my daughter didn't want to use any of the slides so I can't comment on them. There is artificial grass all over which looks and feels good and isn't slippery. The stage area looks over the pools. There are plenty of sun loungers but not enough parasols and what's really frustrating is that people reserve them by wrapping their beach towels around them during the early hours and the hotel staff do nothing to stop this. There are several lifeguards on duty when the pools were open, which made me feel that my daughter was safe although I stayed with her the entire time she was in the pools. The WiFi is free. I'm a fussy eater and I found the food choices extremely limiting, I spent the week eating chips, rice, salad, and bread rolls, we ate out several times so I could eat a proper meal and you could really tell the difference in quality in the cafes/restaurants from the hotel food and drinks. Breakfast was probably the best meal, and the snack bar had several options, but lunch and evening meals were repetitive. You can help yourself to water all day but other drinks have to be ordered at the bar except during meal times when you can use the self service machines. This meant queueing during the day which wasn't ideal when you're in the pool and fancy a quick cola and have to then queue at the bar for it rather than just being able to use the self service machine which is next to the bar. It's also table service for the snack bar which again means waiting and it took ages for me to get the attention of a staff member to order food. It didn't feel fully all inclusive and you can even pay to upgrade to VIP all inclusive which I think demonstrates how much isn't included in the standard all inclusive, including ice creams in a cone, ice lollies, popcorn, fresh cocktails, cans and bottles. We arrived late (around 10pm) and left early (around 7:30am) and the hotel didn't accommodate a late dinner or early breakfast for us which I've had in other all inclusive resorts. The entertainment is very cheesy, some shows were better than others, but the entertainment staff were fantastic, although my daughter was scared of one of the pirates who plays the part a little too well. You have to pay to reserve a table to guarantee a view of the stage which I think is unreasonable, it's €40 for the front row or €30 euros behind for a table of 4. You can pull chairs up beside the bar area but whether you can sit there or not depends on the staff on the day, some days it was fine others it wasn't, we were asked to move despite seeing people sat in the same place the day before and the day after us, we weren't blocking the view or anything, and they decided it was ok for us to sit there until about 30 minutes in when they suddenly told us to move because "it's the rules". I suspect this is because the manager arrived mid way through so staff tightened up on the rules but are more relaxed when the manager isn't around. We did complain to reception who told us to "speak to the Scottish woman at the bar" but she was one of the ones who had asked us to move and possibly the manager. Children are allowed to sit on small chairs directly Infront of the stage which is great, although my daughter was clinging to me the whole holiday so she refused to sit there because I wasn't allowed. The pirate takeover on Sunday afternoon was brilliant. The location is good, close to shops/bars/restaurants/cafes and a short walk to the beach. I felt safe the entire time, it's also really good that the pools are fenced off when closed, I was able to run around the artificial grass chasing my daughter and playing hide and seek behind the parasols etc without worrying about her accidentally falling into the pools. There's a free kids club but my daughter wouldn't use it so I can't comment on that. Overall a nice hotel but lots of room for improvement and we don't feel we got value for money.

Friendly staff and great hotel!

10.0

First off the staff are brilliant, very friendly and helpful! The hotel is clean, has great facilities and both adults and kids absolutely loved our stay here! Santa Ponca is a great holiday destination with the beach and shops just a few minutes walk away. We stayed self catering so cannot comment on the food.

Absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be back.

Location was perfect, so close to the beach and in a quiet area. Hotel was so clean. Pools were fab as were the entertainment team and pool staff/lifeguards.

Food selection didn’t seem very big, we only ate in the hotel once so can’t fully comment but it just didn’t look like a big selection

Just the best time with the Grandchildren!ren! ren!

We had an amazing time. The staff and entertainment team were fantastic. The shows on an evening were just so professional and entertaining!! We had room 29 with the garden! Just perfect near the pool. The only criticism I can make is that the pool didn't open until 10.30am Which by that time, it was extremely hot and the Grandkids were getting bored as they had been up early and just wanted to get in the pool. Everything else was perfect. Absolute amazing time and definitely would go back Janine, Nev &family June 2026
