There was a power cut which basically meant we had no rooms or any other services. check in was made available at about 8pm. we had to travel elsewher, on foot, for food in the evening.

− Just not pleasant after a hard days work, I think we should be refunded, and the hotel claim off the electricity provider

Very disappointing

The food, evening meal and breakfast were excellent. The lady that seemed to be in charge was very apologetic and helpful and was clearly doing her best with limited resources.

− The welcome, cold and unfriendly with the card machine taking over as it wouldn’t work. The organisation was disappointing and a bit hit and miss. We had evening meal (which was pre booked but never confirmed) in the dining room but there was an “antenatal class” in an adjoining room with the sliding door left open so you could hear every word, which is not what we needed for a cosy evening. The staff got the drinks order wrong and the breakfast set up was hit and miss as there was only one member of staff on duty. The room was overlooked by rooms on the opposite side of the courtyard and the blinds had to be wedged in position as the mechanism was broken. The cleaners were in early and left all the cleaning cupboards open with all the products and equipment on show and the trolley in the corridor but no cleaners in sight. It was unsightly, unnecessary and dangerous if a youngster had been there. The whole place needed a good tidy up. We were never asked if we enjoyed our stay on departure.

− La cocina estaba cerrada cuando llegamos y tuvimos que ir a Macdonalds! Pero el día siguiente pudimos comer y todo fue perfecto

We had a comfortable clean room. Staff very nice, enjoyed dinner and breakfast

Location very good. Close to Highclere castle

Accommodation was very adequate but staff were excellent.

Breakfast was very good and staff were happy to mix-and- match for our taste. More cereal choice would have been good.

− The hotel is basically good but is short of a few details e.g no toilet roll holder in one of the rooms, very limited hanging space for longer clothes eg dresses. The staff tried their best to address the difficulties.

Rooms were comfortable.

− That only had tea and coffee supplied. Had to pay for water. Most hotels provide that in the room, but it was an honesty bar and over £3 for a bottle. Did not have bought own from supermarket.
