An excellent bolt hole - have been recommending it.

The location, solitude, view, cleanliness facilities

Iron could do with renewal - had wedding guest clothes to press from suitcase - base of iron had residue on it and was a bit worse for wear. I used the tea towel as a pressing cloth to save damage to my clothes. Replacement TV remote required - battery hatch held on with tape and very intermittent at working.

Geweldig mooie Engelse cottage.

Een heerlijk ruime en comfortabele cottage met uitzicht op een prachtige tuin. In een heel rustige omgeving en toch op loopafstand - 7 minuten - van het station. In 25 minuten sta je in Edinburgh centrum.

Dated and uncomfortable

3.0

Only enjoyable part of the stay was the adjoining garden which we didn't get much use of, there was no outdoor seating

The property was extremely uncomfortable. We chose it for the proximity to our friends wedding venue and turned down offers to stay with friends in city centre with hopes of making a nice weekend of it. Unfortunately the bed was rock solid (coming from a firm bed fan!) And I've never felt such lumpy old pillows. Truly the worst sleep I've ever had and my partner and I were both considering cancelling and staying with friends but persisted for the ease of proximity. The sofa in the living room was also difficult, completely saggy in the bottom with rock solid springs in the back preventing you from getting comfortable at all. The bath was not clean and had hairs all over the bath and walls There were ants crawling across the kitchen counters We have photographs and videos of both. Overall it felt like staying in a young students halls and just very grim and dirty sticky floors. We also had no idea or instruction that the cottage was attached to a bigger house. It was noted it was behind a bigger house in a text a few days prior but we didn't realise until some very loud banging and voices at half 10 at night the first night that there was an adjoining room. It gave us both quite a shock and we were concerned that there were intruders. A note to say that this is the case would have been appreciated and it should also be clearer in the property description when booking. It was especially upsetting when getting ready in the morning for the wedding and the residents were in the garden right outside the property whilst we were in a state of undress We wanted a nice quiet weekend to ourselves to make the most of attending our close friends wedding because we've both had really difficult years with family health issues and we were extremely disappointed. Next time we'll stick with a hotel in the centre of town.
