10.0Vynikající místo, skvělý personál.
What a simply superb hotel
10.0What a simply superb hotel. Steeped in history (but beautifully furnished to modern standards) this superbly positioned hotel, right by to cathedral gate, was a delight. The staff (all of them) were welcoming, helpful, attentive and efficient. Our room was elegant and well appointed. We parked in the ‘park and ride’ car park, which worked well. And the bus stop was only a short walk to the hotel. I strongly recommend this hotel if you’re visiting Canterbury. One point to note: If you can’t cope with stairs, this is probably not for you, as it’s an old building with lots of stairs to navigate.
An experience I will never forget!
10.0Location- amazing! And we were in the Joy room with a view of the cathedral out of our window!!!!! The view was worth having a tub versus a standing shower!!! Breakfast- The continental breakfast was great in the very quaint breakfast rooms. Amazing cherry jam! Room- The bed was very comfortable, and it was lovely laying in bed with the breeze coming through the open windows staring at this amazing cathedral and listening to the cooing pigeons and church bells. An experience I will never forget!
− Very small bathroom which was actually just fine for me as a very petite person but might not be as pleasant for someone taller. It was very clean and worked great, serving its purpose, although the mirror could be set lower. I couldn't see myself in it at all, not even the top of my head as I'm 5 foot 1 inch. I just used the other mirror over the little table in the room to do my makeup. No biggie!
Very comfortable, friendly & quirky hotel.
10.0We were originally booked elsewhere but when we arrived, found the place permanently closed which left us in a it of a bind. We found that Cathedral Gate had two rooms for two nights so gratefully we made our way there. We received the warmest welcome in this delightful quirky place built in 1438. Our room was very well equipped, quiet and comfortable. Stayed for two splendid nights. While there we were given loads of advice and good thoughts on places to visit and restaurants, all turned out to be spot on. We really enjoyed the delicious continental breakfasts too. The hotel was perfectly located, right next to the Cathedral, and convenient for everything. Just loved the unique quirkiness, the crooked walls, the sloping floors, the warm friendly staff. Everything really. Highly recommend.
Didn't get a lot of sleep but in a great location. Staff very friendly and helpful.
6.0Location was excellent. Breakfast had limited choice not really a continental breakfast and the room was very hot and noisy
− The room had a tiny toilet and separate tiny shower, the mattress on the bed was uncomfortable and thin, the room was very hot and noisy being at the front of the hotel. The entrance could be made a lot clearer on how to find it. we were given the choice of rooms but we went with the one with the least sets of stairs. The description of the hotel could be more honest. Breakfast was included but basically just cereals toast and fruit.
Cathedral is undergoing refurbishments work at the rear of the hotel. Works may take place from 08:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday.
Due to the nature of the building, there are quite a lot of stairs.
