Service was outstanding - personal, efficient, truly nothing too much trouble. Food is delicious, fresh, local, charged every day. Setting is so relaxing. Loved the pool area with ambiance of a relaxed home from home with wonderful music too. Accommodation was spacious comfortable with amazing views.

We decided to treat ourselves for the last 6 days of our honeymoon, and Buckingham Place did not disappoint at all. It was in fact one of our favourite resort experiences we have had! We stayed in the honeymoon suite, which was huge and luxurious, featuring a giant outdoor bathroom. One small highlight was enjoying a supplied ginger beer (re-stocked each night!) and watching the sunset over the lagoon from our room each evening. The grounds of the hotel itself are stunningly kept, and the architecture/aesthetic are great. Even the colour scheme was picked perfectly, and the work of the in-house artist complements this and adds further character throughout. The pool area is as nice as you will see anywhere around the world, with a view across to the ocean across the infinity edge of the pool. The location is extremely quiet, and feels very isolated - great for unwinding. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful, and you can tell that the owner Nick, who made a point of greeting us each evening, has built a wonderful culture there. Finally - the quality of food from the kitchen was top-notch, with different dishes offered each night - all leaving us full but still wanting more!

− Not a detraction as it is advertised quite prominently, but the beach, whilst beautiful - is really not swimmable at all - even confident and capable swimmers need to be very careful. Additionally the sand itself is extremely soft, so it's not amazing for walking on either. We travelled to the other side of Tangalle for our beach time.

Fabulous boutique hotel. From the moment you arrive you feel relaxed and at home. Everything about this hotel is focussed on the guests from the relaxed breakfast to the amazing cocktails. Our room was enormous with an indoor/ outdoor shower and bath! I slept better here than in any other hotel in Srilanka! The staff are lovely, friendly, professional but never overbearing. You can walk to the beach to watch the waves. The evening meal was exceptional , the menu changes everyday and is so fresh and delicious we didn't eat anywhere else. Nick the owner is around keeping an eye on things, which is why this is such an amazing place. The bright colours are joyous, we just kept saying how lucky we felt to be there! If you ever get the chance to visit Buckingham Place jump at the chance, easy to see why people return again and again. We loved it!!

Außergewöhnliches Boutique Hotel mit englischem Flair und sehr besonderer Einrichtung und Stimmung (Farbgebung, Möbel, Bilder, Klassik/Jazz im Hintergrund, Flügel und Pianist,…) ,sehr freundlichem und zugewandtem Personal (in vielen anderen Hotels - auch Grand Hotels eher aufgesetzt freundlich). Wir wurden auch vom Eigentümer Sir Nick persönlich sehr freundlich empfangen, sogar die Chef-Hündin des Haus Madam Bella begrüßte uns jeden Morgen. Das Frühstückund Rice & Curry waren fein und köstlich, eine sehr gepflegte Anlage unbd Garten.

− Leider kein Gym im Haus; der Strand direkt an der Unterkunft war wegen roter Flagge (Wellengang und Strömung) nicht nutzbar - dafür kann das Hotel natürlich nichts. Der Laundry Service hat eines meiner Polo-Shirts mit neuen Flecken zurück gegeben, auch ein zweiter Versuch schlug fehl, keines der Kleidungsstücke war gebügelt oder roch frisch gewaschen. Mir hätte mehr Sri Lanka Authenzität besser gefallen - ist aber meine persönliche Meinung.

Definitely stay here if you can - it's a wonderful hotel with amazing staff and a perfect location

Breakfast was great - amazing views. Staff were exceptional. Dinner - Sri Lankan options were very good - more of these needed! Pool was perfect. An amazing place to stay and we will be back!

− Only complaint is the shower which had very little pressure (Honeymoon suite) but hopefully that can be rectified easily.
