Great stay in Varenna

We were steps say from great restaurants and shops and an easy walk to ferry! It's a bit of a haul from train station with steps and hills so would be more difficult with large heavy suitcases. No views of the lake but we were only there to sleep.

− No living room or group hang out space except table in kitchen which was fine for the limited time we weee there.

The location is great!

− There was no communication from the host or property manager (Varenna Holidays) prior to our arrival. When our train was delayed, we emailed to say we were coming but that we would be later than expected. We asked for confirmation of the address to pick up the keys because we were worried that we didn’t hear anything. We did get a reply as we were on the train confirming the address and telling us the office closed at 18:00. There was no mention of after hours access. This added to our stress. We almost didn’t get to the property manager office before it closed as it is quite a distance from the apartment. Once we got to the apartment, we discovered that the fans available were small and not able to circulate the air. The windows weren’t helpful to get airflow either. It was warmer inside the apartment than outside during the record heat. When we requested more fans, the office was closed and no one replied until the next day. This isn’t a very good property manager. I would not book this apartment again in the summer. It’s miserable in the heat. Note that this listing is factually accurate but could have more details and photos. It is clear that this was a one bedroom but converted to two by eliminating a living space. The kitchen is extremely small and barely fits a table. One bathroom is a dark, small closet with a toilet and a peephole to the outside. The apartment comes with instructions to not plug in too many items at one time or the power will go out. The WiFi is unreliable.

We really enjoyed our stay in Varenna. The place was very spacious and felt safe and comfortable. It was centrally located so very close to everything we needed as well as a 10 min walk to the train station. We had a wonderful stay.

− Heating and hot water was going off daily, no comfortable seating for six, not enough large towels, no change of towels ,at a cost.other friends appartments far superior for same price, only one key for six could not out independently, intercom not working, iron burnt marks unable to use.Washing machine poor access.appartment better suited for 4 people.

Nice apartment for a family with 2 separate bedrooms. Quite a bit of walk to the property from bust stop including steps. Please check and make sure the Varenna train station is open - it is under construction and there’s no direct train from Milan. Overall a nice location if you don’t mind walking as the only option. Taxis are hard to find and have to pre book.
