We enjoy Nashville. We choose hotels in Summer with good pool to hand out during the hot days and enjoy the rest of Nashville in the evenings. This hotel had great reviews, great pool vibes, and we booked through AMEX Fine Hotels. Two days prior to arrival we received email stating the pool would be closed Friday afternoon starting at 2pm for a private event. Conveniently the email was sent after the cancellation window had closed so we would need to find other plans on a super hot afternoon when we were just planning on hanging by the pool. I highly doubt this was a last minute private booking so the timing of the email was suspect and frankly annoying. We checked in on Thursday and did go to the pool in the afternoon. The pool was busy but not terribly so. Service was terrible, we were able to get first drink but after that it was nearly impossible. There was a waitlist for a lounge chair but we chose to just get in the pool. This seemed to be the issue because those with chairs were getting service. There were no towels available and we had to ask multiple times to get towels to exit the pool area as storms were quickly approaching. Check in was great, our room was ready in the morning and we were able to access it. Saturday was July 4 so understandable the pool was busy...4 hour wait for chair. Having previously experienced poor service when it wasn't busy we decided to skip the pool as there was literally no way to even access it or get in it with the number of people there. On our way to the pool however we witnessed a guest throw up on the 16th floor outside the elevator and people walking through it tracking it around the floor onto the elevator. We reported it multiple times as did friends of ours staying on the same floor as we saw it multiple times throughout the afternoon hours. It took multiple hours to get cleaned up and at least 4 reports from various guests. Espresso machine in our room wasn't working, took over a day to get repaired. I've reached out to AMEX, Marriott, and hotel GM. Received a promising initial response from Hotel with commitment to follow up later that day, that was 3 days ago. Amex says they are waiting on response from hotel to fully address my concerns as well. The room was great, the bars and speakeasy were great, but with so many service issues I can not at this time recommend and did not get the same level of service as we've had previously with hotels in this category.

One Night in Nashville

8.0

Excellent desk staff, valets (Drew & Davionta), breakfast wait staff. Comfortable bed and linens. Pool was heated and beautiful. Entrance is not well marked and we circled the block several times before I jumped out of the car (was passenger)at the exit to find the entrance. It is down the small alley.

Beautiful Hotel downtown

8.0

This hotel if lovely, great rooms, nice restaurants and bars! The location is good for walking to Broadway and also for quiet. The view from the rooftop bar and pool is fabulous. We enjoyed drinks and hanging by the pool. Just know that the pool can get crowded and there can be a waitlist for lounge chairs, wish we would’ve known. We would definite stay again!!!

Valet Review

10.0

From the moment we arrived at The Joseph, Davionta and Drew delivered a level of hospitality that truly defines a five-star experience. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were exceptional. Traveling with family often comes with unique needs, yet they anticipated every request with genuine enthusiasm and made each interaction effortless. What impressed us most was their willingness to go above and beyond—not because they had to, but because they genuinely cared about ensuring our family felt welcomed and well taken care of. Their kindness, efficiency, and impeccable valet service left a lasting impression and elevated our entire stay. Davionta and Drew are outstanding ambassadors for The Joseph and exemplify what world-class hospitality should look like. Exceptional employees like them are the reason guests return. Thank you both for making our visit so memorable—we look forward to staying at The Joseph again because of the initial arrival and departure experience you provided.

Mostly good

Rooms were generously sized and well appointed. Food at Yolan was excellent, as were the servers from India. Our only complaint was regarding the pool. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday the pool was seriously understaffed and underchaired. No towels available, menu items not available, long waits (10+ minutes) for beverages. Disappointing experience. Guys at the door were wonderful. Friendly and efficient, especially Drew, Davionta and the gentleman with long red hair.
