Not a good experience was a surprise for my wife for her birthday and she got sick due to the mold.

The cabin was cool and the woods were beautiful.

− It was dirty. From the moment we walked in it had a mildew smell. There was a dirty used bandaide on the stairs, there was dog hair everywhere which generally would be fine however, when you stay somewhere, are you expected to be clean. The worst part of it all was the bathroom had a ton of mold, especially the shower. My wife and daughter are allergic to mold and had a very bad reaction. We did not stay another night. We left after the first night. This cabin is very secluded and if you needed 911 services due to an anaphylactic reaction to mold, you’d really be in trouble. I think it’s very important for guests to know that there is mold. We tried to contact the property manager, but he said it was against their policy to offer any refunds and offered for us to stay at another one of his cabins, but why would we want to do that when we saw the condition of this current one and we were not feeling well after staying there. We tried to contact booking.com to have the problem taken care of, but I have not received a resolution yet. If it wasn’t for the mold, I would’ve rated this higher, but even without the mold, it was still pretty dirty. I really hope that the host gets that taken care of because that is unacceptable and dangerous.

Others said the bed was too soft. We loved it. Everything needed was available.

− I paid for late checkout and the cleaning crew arrived at regular checkout time. Not sure where the miscommunication happened, but otherwise we had a nice night.

It’s okay for short stay, needs a deep clean

I liked the feel and the idea of the cabin. There was just three of us, two adults and one child so the size is fine.

− Verizon cell service is extremely limited in this area and doesn’t reliably work until you reach Murfreesboro or head further toward Nashville. The cabin itself needs a thorough cleaning. The ceiling fans were heavily coated in dust, and the plastic utensils in the cabinet still had food residue from previous guests. The porch and seating area were also quite dirty. There are a few maintenance issues that should be addressed as well. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers kept falling since they’re attached with adhesive, and one of the blind rods repeatedly came loose for the same reason. The toilet could use better sealing, and the shower was not clean upon arrival. Overall, the stay was okay, but the cabin would benefit greatly from a deep clean and some basic repairs. The owners seem kind, though I was told they don’t live in the state. One thing that stood out was the cleaning person stopping by at 9 PM to say he was leaving for the weekend, then staying and talking with us for an extended period, which felt a bit unusual.
