What's wrong?
6.0We had burned out light bulbs (replaced), a broken icemaker, a non-working oven (was fixed) & non-working lobby keys (replaced) Not what we needed to deal with during our trip!
Guest review
8.0Very well located at base village. Competing music from venues at base village at end of every day was a little much.
Cleanliness is NOT an option!
4.0We love Hayden Lodge. It is a luxury family-friendly lodge situated directly above the Snowmass ski school and central to absolutely everything (gondolas, restaurants, apres). Hayden is our "go to" spot year after year. This year we rented Unit 2302; a very pricey 3-bedroom unit with great views. Too bad it was so disappointingly filthy. There was hair in the drains, hair in the kitchen cabinets (colander, measuring bowls, etc.), hair in the "clean" beds, hair in the w/d; 3" black hairs were everywhere. Yuk, yuk, and yuk. I also cleaned someone else's splattered make up off the wall in the master bath. Ironically they charge several thousand $$ for a "cleaning fee" as part of the rental agreement. Suffice it to say we left the place far cleaner than when we found it, but what a shame. Going forward we will go back to the other unit we rented in Hayden. PS - the owners were not willing to provide any break on the "cleaning fee" despite these circumstances of which they were notified right away.
Great Stay
10.0We stayed here for 5 days. The location is amazing as others have said. The building seems very new. Hot tub is great and almost always empty even during school vacation week. We would definitely stay here again. Grab your skis from the ski locker, walk out the door and get on either the 6 person chair or gondola. When you ski in, walk 20 feet to the front door of the building. If your kids are in ski school, they all meet right outside the door. 25 restaurants you can walk to. Would definitely stay again.
Prime location for skiing with kids
10.0Stayed in one bedroom condo here four nights for spring break skiing. Condo was very spacious and had high end appliances. It was also located on the backside "valley view" which meant it was very quiet and it was on the top floor so it had vaulted ceilings which added to the spacious feel. I also understand we had the only one bedroom with two baths which was great as well. Appreciated the in unit washer and dryer, humidifier, ski boot dryer and also the ski locker. Wifi was also very strong (saw earlier reviews that this was a problem, it was not for our stay). This is the ultimate location if you are skiing with kids who will be in ski school. It was my son's first time skiing and we could not have asked for a better arrangement as this place is literally steps from everything e.g. the Elk Camp Gondola, all ski school classes meet right in front of Hayden, quick ride on the skittles up to the Snowmass Mall, easy walk to bus depot to get into Aspen, easy walk to Clark's if you need food/supplies. It's also great that the rest of the building that Hayden Lodge is in is the "TreeHouse," basically the ski school so you aren't looking at being upstairs from a bunch of noisy bars/restaurants. We are now spoiled by this location for certain, great stay!
Most Convenient Location at Snowmass
8.0Location, location, location! The building sits right at the center of Base Village, steps to the 6-pack lift and Gondola as well as the kid's camp and restaurants. The Skittles gondola is also steps away to get up to mid-mountain for dinner and shopping. A friendly staff member picked us up at the airport and helped us with our bags to our room. However, for trips back to the airport, they only shuttle hourly, meaning we ended up at the airport way too early with our flight time. They initially assigned us the ADA handicapped room, which was terrible. It looks nothing like the pictures on Snowmass Hospitality's website. Very cramped bathroom that looked like something from a hospital ward with worse lighting. Because it's ADA compliant, it had a wall mounted sink with no counter to put your stuff. They did move us to another room, which was far better. It may have been an upgraded 1BR because it was much bigger and nicer than the initial room and it had an extra bathroom and walk-in closet. The building does not have many amenities, just a small lobby, ski storage and a small hot tub shoehorned in beside the locker room (which nobody used but us by the looks of it). Management maintains it very well and you always see people cleaning. The place was spotless. The rooms are very nice but don't compare them to what you would find at Beaver Creek or Deer Valley...not even close. They showed us a couple units in Capital Peak before moving us. Hayden is considered the premier unit but Capital Peak is also very nice. Building A is closest, Building B is acceptable and actually a bit closer to the Gondola, however, Building C is definitely too far away. That said, if I could get a unit at Capital Peak Building A a lot cheaper than Hayden, I would probably go that direction. Lastly, our "valley view" room actually overlooked a somewhat junky 70's walkup condo behind us. Not a deal killer though. The downside to the slopeview room is the fact that the apres ski places below blare music from 3 to dark on nice days. For the right price, I would definitely stay here again.
