8.0Upon check-in they upgraded us to a new unit. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is "work-in-progress" as they renovate by stages.

It was good.
8.0My room was recently renovated and was clean, modern and comfortable. The staff were great. The place gets a low score on booking.com which is unfair. Basically, everywhere I stayed in the Kimberley was very basic and pretty expensive. That is just the way it goes in the Kimberley. If I ever go back to Derby then I’d be happy to stay at the Mud Crab Motel again. It was way better than my room in Fitzroy Crossing, Kununurra and Halls Creek; and it was cheaper. As a solo traveler, and a bloke, I was totally happy with the Mud Crab Motel. Basic, but clean and comfortable. Perfectly OK. If you want luxury then go to Broome. I’m comfortable recommending the Mud Crab Motel.

Brook and Michael made our stay very enjoyable. They are doing a lot of work to renovate and improve the property.

The mud crab motel was ordinary however they relocated us to an excellent alternative.
1.0The mud crab motel was terrible. They mucked up our booking which was a god send. We were re located to the Spinifex Hotel which was excellent. Such a stroke of good luck.
− We didn't get past the 'reception' of the mud crab motel, which doubled up as a fish and chip shop - it smelt terrible. The Spinifex hotel however was roomy, modern and very comfortable. Meals were available there being good value and of a high standard.
