Good Hotel with Great Location
8.0Breakfast was delicious -lots of cooked breakfast choices plus yogurt, fresh fruits and juices, croissants, bread and more. The internet though was nearly nonexistent and totally useless for doing anything important. Location was great.

10.0Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Royal Hotel in Stromness. The location is excellent. Close to ferry, buses and shops. Breakfasts were always very good. Decor in room very well done with interesting artwork. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Dinners at sister hotel "Ferry Hotel" extremely good. Architecture and historical photographic history of The Royal and Stromness very interesting.

8.0Nice room on top floor; unfortunately no lift. Good facilities except no bath. Breakfast was included and this was hearty and served with a smile. Food was high quality. There was nowhere to dine in the evening and eating out options in Stromness are limited so we’d recommend booking meals before you start your stay. There was nowhere to park at the hotel but we found a free long stay car park above the hotel - though the path was treacherous in wet weather. This must be a great place to stay if you need the ferry but otherwise I’d recommend staying more centrally in Kirkwall.
Wonderful stay
10.0We had a lovely stay at The Royal Hotel in Stromness. The room was very comfortable and the staff were just lovely. The breakfasts we had were amazing! We would recommend The Royal Hotel to anybody planning a visit to Stromness. The location of the hotel is well suited for travelling around mainland Orkney with a good bus service to Kirkwall also. Stromness is close to ma attractions around the mainland.
