SO QUIET!!! And clean--not fancy, but who cares?
10.0Wow. Is this place fancy? No. Is it, however, one of the *quietest* and cleanest places I've stayed (and I've stayed a lot of places). It looks . . . boring . . . on the outside, and there was some chipped paint on the doors, and it's an old-style motel where you park at the door of your room. I really like that configuration. The ONLY sound I heard from outside the entire time was one faint "beep" of a car key in the morning. There may be more noise in busy seasons, but the silence this time was bliss. And when I opened the curtains in the morning, I looked out on some beautiful green Iowa countryside. The people running the place are super nice. And the bed and pillows were plenty comfortable.
− Well, these are small points. The motel is in a very small town--not far from the highway, but enough to drop the number of surrounding amenities. There's no breakfast supplied, but I travel with my own food so that didn't matter. There's a list in the room of what places MIGHT be open to serve food, but I'd suggest eating or stocking up before you arrive. Fridge and microwave and coffee maker, as usual, so the room supports taking care of yourself.
