10.0I love this resort and hope to return. Location: This resort, shared with the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas (south), sits on a premier snorkeling beach. Our oceanfront studio villa 8108 was truly oceanfront, and we could hear the waves from the room and sit on the patio and watch the whales and the people walking the beach walk. (This is in contrast to complaints of the oceanfront studios of the Westin Kaanapali Ocean Villas (south) where some reviewers say it isn't truly oceanfront. The beach in front of this resort in particular is my first choice for Maui. With calm seas, it is perfect for snorkeling from shore and swimming. This time, the ocean was rough and there was no snorkeling possible and it wasn't the best for swimming due to the reef. We still loved the beach and did some boogie boarding but in rough ocean, you need to be careful because of the reef and close to shore break. We drove to other beaches, which is the amazing choice of Maui. We walked to Duke's at Honua Kai and walked to Whaler's Village. Short drive to Honokowai and Lahaina. Excellent for sunsets. My perfect location. Facilities: Lots of choice for pools, hot tubs, and restaurants because you can access the pools and facilities at the sister resort and the Nanea. Pailolo bar/reataurant has a live musician with guitar supposedly nightly 5-8 but didn't happen on a windier night. Wonderfully laid back next to the fire pit and hot tub, close to the beach walk with tiki torches. Excellent. The musicians are good. Several barbecue clusters very pleasantly landscaped and clean with tiki torches. They were very clean and welcoming. Pickleball, tennis, basketball: Make reservations at the South Lobby, equipment lent for free from south lobby front desk. To 10pm. Gym: there are gyms at the north building and at the south building #2. They are both good. The south building #2 has some Pelotons,a large sauna, and large steam room, lockers where you set your own code, and stretching area and equipment. These gyms are excellent for a hotel gym. Shuttle: It is part of the Kaanapali shuttle system. Fun to walk to Whalers Village for commercial, them take the trolley back. Late departure lounge: If you have a later flught, when you check out, you can get cards to access this lounge. This was much better than I expected. It is a room in Building #2, next to the gym, and with access to the pool de k near the beach side. There are half size lockers outside where you can set your own code and store what you need for the day. You leave your luggage with the bell desk. The lounge has 2 couches and about 8 easy chairs and a tv. It is pleasant. It was quite busy though. However, you can use all the hotel facilities so you can still go to the pool and beach. You can use the showers at the gym. In the women's locker room, there are 2 showers and lockers in the shower area and lots of towels. It was also busy but I didn't wait when I needed the shower. It is shared with the gym and first come, first served. Checkout day: Normally, I would book an extra night when I have a late flight but that was not possible this time. I called in advance and asked again at check in and check out to pay for a late check out or half day rate. The answer was consistent that they don't do this. But the facilities provided really did make the day after checkout okay. We had lunch at Aunties Kitchen (good), used the gym, beach, pools and were easily able to clean up with the facilities. I was impressed. Bell desk: Excellent service throughout the stay. We arrived very late and they take you to your room and provide free valet parking the first night. I had grocercies delivered from Safeway a few hours before we arrived and they kept them and brought them to the room when we arrived. The bell desk staff were genuinely nice and helpful. Loungers: We always found 2 lounge chairs together when we wanted one, at various times in the day. I heard it was 92% capacity when we arrived. The loungers have proper cushions, better than the Westin resort. Studio room: typical Westin room up to standard -good bed, enough outlets, lots of TV channels, space for beach chairs, cushioned patio seating, window in the bathroom, line for drying bathing suits. The kitchenette has everything but quite tight and you need the step stool provided to reach things. The lighting is pot lights which are glaring for me. The landscaping is very nice. Building 8 is prime. The parking is not close to this building (if mobility is a factor). I hope to return.

Unsanitary and dirty
2.0Arrived 9/20/25 @Westin Ka’anapli Villas South Tower. Dirty glasses outside our door for 2 days, dust on furniture, soap scum all around sink, no body wash in shower. You could tell it hasn’t been cleaned properly. Took 5 hours and multiple calls to get body wash and to have housekeeping manager respond. All Michael Martinez had to say was sorry. There has been a commode in the hallway outside our door since the morning of 9/21/25. It’s still there. No one will call back or take responsibility for the unsanitary conditions. Pans in the room dirty as well. No response from Marriott Bonvoy Management. Was told someone from property will be in contact. Still no response
Want something? That’s an extra $100…
4.0They will charge you for every last thing…use your Marriott points and then plan on paying for EVERYTHING ELSE…and at “Hawaii+” prices. Then again Hawaii has gone the way of Vegas and they may rely on tourists but they feel tourists are the enemy…
