Location is beautiful and our bed was vomfy

− The toilet didn't flush properly, the bowl filled to the top nearly overflowing and needed several attempts to clear it. The floor downstairs is the original concrete stable floor with drainage channels and no rugs. There are no curtains to the main door which is in the main room and doesn't fit well.

Cool floors, boiling bedrooms, and a sea of flies!

The surroundings are absolutely stunning, and there is a lovely walled garden with a great cafe just a 5-minute walk away. The ground floor has a lot of character; the concrete floors and original stable fittings are beautiful and kept the downstairs wonderfully cool during a heatwave. The shower was also excellent, with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Additionally, the owners were very helpful and let us use their other property to watch TV when the internet in ours stopped working. If you need taxis then Garrison Cars in Wool is highly recommended 01929 463395.

− While the downstairs stayed cool, the upstairs bedrooms were like ovens in the summer heat. The property is also incredibly remote. It is a 45-minute walk to the nearest shop and 30 minutes to the pub, with no local buses, making a car absolutely essential (this was not clear at all on maps before booking). Inside, the property is a bit run down and doesn't look as good as it does in the photos; there are visible cracks and brown stains on the walls. The towels provided were old and bleached—the owners either need to replace them or ask guests to bring their own. The kitchenette equipment also feels entirely second-hand and ready for replacement (there isn't even a potato masher!) Finally, because the property is right next to an equestrian centre, there was a fly infestation throughout the house. No bug zapper is provided, and unfortunately, my two messages to the hosts about the flies went completely unanswered.

Location and size of property

− This place was not clean or comfortable, in poor condition, with safety concerns : Dirty sofa, dirty blankets (supplied for outside use), outdoor furniture covered in bird poo, dirty cooker and grill pan, toilet issues. Daylight could be seen through flimsy main door at floor level and the door could easily be broken into if so wished. Wooden railings in bedrooms not safe for children. Floor length window (not safety glass) in bedroom. Messy unkempt garden area and attached outbuildings with mouse trap and lots of mice ! Unable to get wifi even with code. No response to my request for earlier check in. Kitchen sink water flows into garden area Unsafe looking electrics ( ceiling bulb in bedroom)

Cheap but disappointing.

Fantastic rural location, peaceful in beautiful countryside. It is located close to a lovely stream for paddling on a hit day. Downstairs was cool during the heatwave. Bedding smelt clean.

− The property felt dirty, damp, and unloved. The original floor felt greasy on barefoot. Lots of woodlice. Fungus is growing out of the wall by the front door. One toilet roll provided in the house for 4 nights, empty shower gel fixture on wall. The plates were chipped and grimey. Limited furniture and no character, no blinds or curtains downstairs. There was no property guide. We could see a WiFi router plugged in but could not find a code anywhere in the address or on the app, no signal to contact owner. We wouldn't stay here again, not suitable for young family.

Overall the property felt unclean

The beds were comfortable.

− The cooking facilities were poor (grill was not working, inside oven not clean, toaster looked rusty.). Woodlice/spiders everywhere. No food cupboards, unclean crockery and cutlery. No soap and shampoo in the dispenser.

We all had a lovely time great little getaway very clean and well looked after
