July 4th weekend stay

Booked from July 3-7 for 3 adults. The room was spacious, had a king and queen bed. During this time there were many activities going on, from horse painting, yard games, trivia to pie eating contests and a scavenger hunt on horseback.Following all that was the ice cream social. Sparklers were lit before the massive and amazing fireworks show. Karen the office manager, went above and beyond planning the celebration. Plenty of amazing food during the week. All meals are buffet style and if you have dietary needs they will take care of you. Definitely will not leave hungry. Will and staff really outdid themselves. My favorite part is the horses. Once assigned a horse you go get them and groom them before saddling up. Just ask for help or direction and the barn staff will assist you. ( or another guest will try to help if they hear you ) First ride is with a guide, after that you are allowed to go without. Must have at least 2 people for safety reasons. The rides are 2 hours each, if you want to come back early you can. When the ride is finished you unsaddle and repeat. You really bond with your horse doing all these tasks, If you are looking for a peaceful place to ride and stay, Southern Cross Guest Ranch is the place to go. Go once,comeback for a lifetime. Already planning for Thanksgiving 2027. Of course we will be back before than.

Wondeful visit to a horse ranch for a couple of seniors!

Where to start! I was looking for a B&B with horses to take my wife for her 83rd birthday. Was pleasantly surprised that Southern Cross was only 205 miles from our home. The enire process from first contact with Karen to departing was an outstanding experience. It is a wonderful ranch with over 200 acres and about 125 horses. I am 84 years old and never riden a horse. I took a one hour trail ride with Amy as our guide. She took a lot of time helping me understand exactly what to do in any situation. Amy has been a long time employee and knows horses very well. My wife loves horses, however, doesn't ride. We were able to go to the stables as often as we wanted to either feed or help groom the horses. It was a surprise trip for her and she absolutely loved the entire experience. Another highlight was we had the option to eat all three meals there and we took that option. The meals were exceptional. The kitchen staff were very friendly. We ate in the same area as the owner and staff. Every staff member we came in contact with was extremely cordial which made the visit even more enjoyable. This ranch is in Madison, Georgia which has many things to do and we enjoyed visiting several antebellum homes. We are planning to go back in October and hope to visit one or two times a year as long as we are able.

Homely feeling. Combo lock on the door meant you didn't need a key card, which makes it feel almost like a room in your own house. Excellent food. Excellent room.

The staffs are amazing

− The food was good , but the choices are limited. I think one adult can eat a whole donut, cutting a donut in half 🤔
