They are pet friendly, WiFi is free.

− It’s fairly expensive for how old and loud the rooms are. Bring your best earplugs, you can barely have a conversation with the AC on. Hopefully your room isn’t next to the ice machine, you’ll need the earplugs for that too. Luckily it was so warm because my room did not include a hair dryer. They did not allow me to do a late checkout, or at least there was enough of a language barrier with the staff that we were unable to figure out something that complicated, so I had the pleasure of trying to find dog friendly restaurants in St Maries which are also few and far between.

Friendly sat staff, simple accommodations, and very clean.

Location was excellent, within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The Pines is a cute retro motel with simple accommodations. The property is well maintained and exceptionally clean.

− It could use some updating, but that lends towards the charm of the place.

It was very close to where I needed to be. Within walking distance to cafes and shopping downtown. Very quiet. The bed was comfy, however, I wasn't sure I could trust it was clean... The front office man was very nice and helpful. I wasn't sure if I was going to stay another night, so he made sure I had the correct # to call him if I needed to stay.

− When you walk into the building, it smells like someone dumped a bottle of strong perfume in the hallway. Like there was a terrible stench they were trying to cover up. It was so bad, it permeated everywhere, including my room...gave me a sore throat, and I had to go outside frequently to get fresh air. The TV remote was so filthy, I had to use gloves to pick it up and clean it. Literally removed gunk from all the buttons. Then, the TV only worked on certain channels. The front office man was very pleasant, and attempted to help, however, it was an employee that came in and got the TV working on some of the channels...all the while chastising him for 'wanting to change out a TV that worked'. The floors were dirty. Had stains on them. I wore my shoes when walking in the room. The screen in the window was pulled out in 1 corner, so I couldn't open the window to breathe fresh, non perfumed air. And the air conditioner...it was great that it blew cool air, however, at night it got too cool, and there was no way to adjust it. You couldn't even turn it off because the button had been removed. Everything about this place was very low budget. (NOT what I would expect for $100/night.)There was a sign in the office that read they would charge $200 for cleaning if room wasn't left in reasonable condition..that all trash should be removed on check out. Seriously??? I have more business in St. Maries in July, however, I won't be staying at the Pines.
