An excellent choice for a stay in a simple but beautiful, well-run hotel.

Great value for the price. It’s a very well-kept place with cozy interiors dating back to the nineties, when “Swiss quality” really meant a difference. The staff is welcoming and friendly. Although the breakfast starts somewhat late for a hotel in Switzerland (after 8:00) you’ll get to enjoy your traditional morning meal in a beautiful restaurant room with views of the Alpine panorama. A great choice we made for our trip in early March, where we made the winter walk from Sunnbüel (Kandersteg) to Gemmi (Leukerbad).

very nice and cosy hotel. great hospitality from the hotel staff and owner. it has nice view from our room as well. Great location too. They also provide bathing robe for thermal bath use. Very thoughtful. I just love this place. I will surely come back if ever I have a chance again.

Excellent option in Leukerbad, close to everything you need, extremely clean, very friendly staff, breakfast simple but good, very beautiful view from the room window. They offer robe for the thermal swimming pool, what is very convenient. For sure we will be back

Great location, clean and tidy, super friendly staff, reach breakfast. The floors are carpeted so it’s very quiet. The owners do everything to make you feel welcome. I will be happy to be back again! My bed was just a bit on the soft side :)

Swiss hospitality at its best

The Hotel Escher is Swiss hospitality at its very best. A family run business of locals they offer down to earth, friendly service. The rooms are simple but Swiss clean and comfortable. Most important: the church in the center of town thankfully shuts down the bell tower during the night. So a peaceful rest is assured.

Breakfast was good, but...

The hotel has a low price, and though the materials of the room were cheap, this was not unexpected. On the plus side, there was a nice view, and the owner came to pick me up at the station. Several people commented how friendly the family-run establishment was. I do not share in that opinion. I visited shoulder-season, and the family was elsewhere after giving me the room key. I called for a blanket and was told where to get it. (somewhat curtly). At ten at night, I discovered I had no towels, but decided not to call and held off on a shower. Breakfast was good, and the middle-aged man who is present during the day seemed pleasant. I accidentally broke a plastic piece off the electrical plug cover, and offered to pay, but he didn't put it on the bill. I left a day earlier (having paid for all three nights) and did not have a chance to leave him a bit extra (couldn't have been more than 5 or 10 chf) like I promised, because I was sprinting for the bus. When I phoned to ask for some business papers to be mailed, that I'd left behind, his wife reproached me and said she could not mail anything until I prepaid postage, and she tried to make me feel guilty about the broken piece of plastic. I again offered to pay, but she seemed to have no idea what price a plastic plug cover might run. I received no further communication, other than that unpleasant exchange. I have since reprinted the papers I needed, and recompiled the missing information I forgot in the hotel room. This could be a fine place for some people because of the good value and nice breakfast; this is just my experience, and I won't be back.
