Not what it used to be! At ALL! At least views don’t change.
2.0I hadn’t been here in 20 years. While their website showed a look of a somewhat recent remodel, it was only done partially. The quietness and views of course are the same good quality. That’s about all I can say that is good.
− When you “remodel” a room, you DON’T leave the old ancient timer for the hot tub still mounted on the wall, you DON’T leave the very old thermostat for a heater that no longer exists mounted on another wall. This was a fairly big room, with a large bathroom. The only heat was a tiny portable heater! The fireplace came with NO WOOD, we had to buy some, and they didn’t produce very much heat! Who rents a room with no heater?!? The bed was so worn out I had to remove the couch cushions and sleep on the floor! I have never rented a room with such an awful bed!! I asked to borrow two wine glasses, and was told “oh, that went away with COVID” yet the photo on the website showed them sitting on a tray in the room. When I mentioned this I received a deadpan look with no comment from her. They are letting this place I used to love turn into something not very likable. It’s no wonder there was hardly anyone staying there. It used to be full twenty years ago. Those days are gone!
Fantastic
8.0Our room was large and very comfortable. Clean and updated. The spacious deck was fantastic with a view of the Gualala rice and the ocean.
Looking forward to returning some day.
10.0Everything. Specially all the birds and the view of the ocean.
− Nothing
I had a great time in Gualala, but it wasn’t because of the hotel.
5.0Location is superb. Great view from deck. Room was very cool. Had a huge whirlpool tub in the room! Other than noisy as heck (signage not to use after 10pm as not to annoy neighbors) the tub was awesome! Place was clean. Very comfortable
− Maybe it’s because if its age, but it just wasn’t maintained well. Nothing much offered as a perk. Staff seemed ambivalent to patrons needs and fatigued at living and working so remotely. Ice machine was broken, no daily linen change or room tidying, no fresh towels unless asked for, but then, the office hours weren’t late enough to get things when you really need them.
