Beautiful location but they did not know we had a booking and were unprepared to house us
3.0When we arrived, they did not know we had a booking, and had to scrambled for the last hour of daylight to put us up in an apartment attached to a 1970s house.
Very good
8.0Unique setting that feels like traveling back in time, the place is very cozy and we were able to star gaze at night. The host brought us fresh eggs and toast in the morning and we were able to enjoy our breakfast in the beautiful dessert farm.
Relaxing stay and fresh air. There is no TV provided so bring plenty of magazines.
9.0Location good for hiking into the canyons. No breakfast provided, however they did supply fresh eggs upon request that I cooked.
− No internet access from the room.
The Old Pioneer Garden was a wonderful experience all around.

Old house; Near Ghost Town; Off the Grid; But why?
5.0The location was the only thing to spot on this -- it was where we needed to get to in Nevada to make our goals on the overall drive. But knowing know the marginal comfort of the place (and the cons listed below) I might have pushed on for another hour on the main highway to Winnemucca (headed East/ north) or couple of hours to Sparks/Reno (headed West). Now if you are looking for a place near a ghost town that might be another reason you would go here. Here is the scene -- Kind of imagine if you had a really old grandmother whom you know lived off the grid.. and she passed... and you had to go to the house for arrangements. The stay would be like that -- you know living there is possible as she did it, but she left you no food, and all the stuff and beds date from a couple of decades past.
− There is no food for miles. The older reviews talk about this being a bed and breakfast or being able to buy breakfast... do not be fooled. When we checked in the host just said "no" when we asked. Then you turn around and see a working full size refrigerator... all empty, not even the expected old ketchup bottle. But working. Then 2 dishwashers (not working any more) and full cabinets of place settings to service a gaggle. But no food. There are lots of moths here. The house is old and the screens date to the origin. So by dusk you should assume you are sharing the space until the morning with a lot of critters. Keep a hallway light on and they won't bother you. The whole place is full of piles of stuff -- either old books or vcr tapes or just knick knacks. So go in expecting that. Zero wifi or cell connection -- for miles before you get to the place on our service plan at least. The instructions are NOT clear but do not follow your Map -- come in only from the North down to the South road. We followed the map shortest route which turned to be a Eastward road from the main highway.. went over the mountains, past a bunch of mines and cows, but all dirt or ruts or gravel -- thankful we had a high clearance SUV but still did not need that stress as the sun set behind us.
