Such a tranquil spot with excellent personal service
10.0What a perfect location, in the heart of Dalby Forest. The owners were so welcoming and we could enjoy a delicious home cooked breakfast in a conservatory with our dog. A couple of highlights were an amazing fresh fruit platter and a yoghurt, fruit compote and granola pot, not to mention the full Yorkshire breakfast. High Dalby House has a very large garden open to guests and forest walks are literally on the doorstep.
− The WiFi signal was weak but High Dalby House is in the middle of a forest and it was good to chill.
We were rested and renewed.
10.0The forest location was extremely restful. The grounds were excellently maintained and designed with peace and quiet in mind. Ian and Linda were perfect hosts - nothing was too much trouble. Given the opportunity we will definitely visit again.
Beautiful and tranquil.
10.0High Dalby House was quite unlike anywhere we have ever stayed before. The building is a large and characterful stone structure situated in a fairly remote valley approximately six miles or so from Pickering. It was exactly what we needed, offering absolute silence apart from birdsong and the gentle noise of the stream which runs through the huge garden which we were told is over six acres in size. Our room was large, with a four-poster bed, a sofa and armchair. Tea and coffee available in the room. Our private bathroom was beautifully fitted with modern equipment and located across the corridor. Big windows opened easily, offering plenty of ventilation. At night we could hear a Tawny Owl calling close by. A fridge outside the room was useful during a very hot spell of weather. Breakfast was excellent, with a range of choices and all hot food cooked to order. I believe that no other meals are offered. The owners are extremely friendly but quietly unobtrusive and it seems that many customers are repeat visitors, which is always a good sign. The huge garden contains lots of seating in quiet spaces as well as sculptures, a few religious symbols and artworks. Absolutely wonderful in every respect. My photo shows the property from a viewpoint in the garden.
− There was nothing that we didn't like, we loved the place. If you are nervous of remote locations or rural driving then this may not be your best option. The nearest pub we could find is about five miles away. Note that this is a very special B&B, if you want lots of staff, a bar, room service, aircon and a pool this is not for you. It offers a very special kind of tranquil peace and is the perfect spot to unwind.

10.0The accommodation is luxurious. The grounds are special and the surroundings are spectacular. Great breakfast.
− I liked every moment of our stay if pushed I didn't realise I would need to bring a robe to walk across the corridor to use our private bathroom
A hidden forest gem.
10.0The location and staff were amazing, we felt proper looked after and it was like staying with family. The guest house is in the middle of the forest with beautiful grounds. It was very peaceful and the room was lovely and spacious with a four poster bed and comfy couch.
− The only negative was having to cross the hall for the bathroom. However the bathroom was exceptional and only we had access with our own key. A minor thing compared to how great the stay was.

9.0Beautiful quiet surroundings. Lovely gardens to walk, especially the little river that flows through it. Spotlessly clean, friendly and welcoming hosts, comfortable bed and modern bathroom. Breakfast excellent.
