− Poor flush on toilet
Would go back in a heartbeat and most certainly will on our next visit to Oswestry.
9.0We LOVED almost everything about the place including our spacious en suite room. The gardens were beautiful and so well kept, although a couple of sun umbrellas would not go amiss in the garden!! The lounge and dining room with attached conservatory area were lovely and we enjoyed a perfect dinner on one evening with outstanding high end cooking!
− Not being able to open window in bathroom. A refresh of grouting in bathroom should be considered. Stains on the carpet at the entrance to the bedroom should be looked at. On the second day we ordered an afternoon tea as we were going out in the evening to a concert in Llangollen. It was extremely disappointing bearing in mind how much we had enjoyed the dinner: the open sandwich of sliced beef was ill advised (meat was rather chewy) and juices from it ran into the sandwiches on the same plate (which were cardboard white sliced bread); the venison sausage roll was overcooked and rather dense (although the flavour was there!). The scones were small but very nice (2 each would be preferred of this size). The patisserie was not much better unfortunately - chewy macaron, OK chocolate brownie and a rather large piece of carrot cake topped with a mass of whipped cream. My husband and I often go for an afternoon tea at high-end country hotels and we could only bring ourselves to mark this one 2/10. We just think it could be more imaginative overall.
Lovely relaxing location and pretty hotel

− We would have preferred some simpler dinner options on the menu.
