Such a pity, a truly charming place let down by truly unprofessional staff !
1.0The nicely renovated space and peaceful setting made a wonderful first impression, great start for a 2 nights stay ! The two spacious bedrooms tucked under the roof offered a certain charm with their exposed wooden beams.
− Unfortunately, our promising start quickly soured. Just an hour into the night, a truly alarming incident occurred in our children's bedroom: two large wasps fell from a worn exposed beam, landing directly on my five-year-old son's pillow. Rushing to the room at his scream, we discovered a third wasp on the floor. We immediately moved their mattress to the other bedroom and closed the door for the night, only to find yet another wasp in the morning. ...Just the thought our childrens could have been stung by wasps during the night is truly unsettling. Adding to our discomfort, the room lacked any heating, not even a small unit in the bathroom. Early May in this location was still quite chilly, especially in the mornings. To cap off our first night, an unexpected and frankly comical incident occurred at breakfast: my chair literally collapsed as I sat down, leaving me on the floor. Bringing all of this to the staff's attention yielded only dismissive responses. I was told it's "normal" to have wasps at this time of year ( i would say yes, outdoor, not in the bedroom), that the heating system had been turned off the previous week ( good to now i guess), and regarding the collapsed chair, I simply received a shrug and "that's strange, it's never happened." Having traveled extensively across four continents, even to remote locations, I can honestly say this has been our worst stay by far! I wouldn't have even felt the need to write a review if the staff had simply acknowledged and apologized for the frightening experience our children.
Good, facilities basic, needed to ask for extra pillows.
7.0The property was very remote and very quiet.
− The dogs barking on arrival and not a very friendly reception from the host.
Very good
8.0The restaurant downstairs was delicious. Nice swimming pool. Comfy room.
− They did not communicate that we had to preorder breakfast for the next day. The road to get there is a bit dangerous for a small car (Fiat 500). Make sure you pay attention to the big bump at the entrance of the domain.
We had a lovely memorable stay at La Grange Neuve, combining easygoing relaxation onsite with great sightseeing. Thank y
9.0Beautiful peaceful countryside location, but also close to interesting towns, villages, vineyards and scenery to visit. Excellent long, clean, safe and secure swimming pool. Very friendly host who was happy to facilitate conversation with me in my tentative years-old French which I enjoyed. Lovely breakfasts on the terrace in the mornings. Very good local traditional home cooked three course evening meals. Different restaurants to try within a short drive away.
− Although we really appreciated the hosts making some adjustments to enable us to have various fish dishes, there was no dedicated vegetarian main course option. We’d be cautious recommending it to strict vegetarian/vegan travellers hoping to dine in often. For anyone else, we’d highly recommend it. It felt a little unusual to have no hot/cold drink making facilities in the rooms themselves.
Amazing!
10.0After reading some of the reviews, we were a bit worried about our two week stay at the accommodation, but we’ve had a wonderful time! The location is beautiful and calm, the owners were very friendly and the food was delicious! We are sad to leave such an amazing, relaxing place and wonderful hosts. We’ve had the most amazing time there and would 100% recommend.
− Nothing worth mentioning. Yes there are very few sockets etc but with a bit of planning it was fine- it didn’t bother us at all.
Bad
1.0The gardens and grounds were superb. Very clean swimming pool. However, unless you are planning to sleep outside that's where the positives finish
− 1) unwelcoming staff 2) the room was basic, only one socket in the room. One in the bathroom. 3) during our stay the weather was hot. Early July. The room.at the top of the house was stiffling with only one window. Too hot to sit in the room with it closed so with it open the room became full of insects. We were bitten all over. 4) after the restaurant closed at 9pm. All lights in the courtyard were turned off. There are tables and chairs around the terrace area so we found ourselves sitting in the dark. All in all it was shocking. We went to bed by 10.30 however the room was impossible to sleep in. By midnight we had enough, left the hotel and found somewhere to sleep. We never returned and neither would I. Very poor indeed.
