My stay at The Retreat Costa Rica was nothing short of extraordinary. It was truly the best birthday I have ever celebrated, and I couldn’t have chosen a more perfect place. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with genuine warmth and exceptional hospitality. A very special thank you to Lizbeth, that was able to speak to me in my native language (Italian) and Roger at the front desk. Their kindness, professionalism, and attention to every detail made me feel valued and cared for throughout my entire stay. The chef and the entire restaurant staff deserve the highest praise. Every meal was an unforgettable culinary experience—beautifully presented, incredibly fresh, and absolutely delicious. Their passion and dedication shine through in every dish and every interaction. I would also like to recognize the housekeeping team for their outstanding work. My room and all the resort facilities were kept spotless every day, creating a peaceful and relaxing environment. The resort itself is breathtaking. The facilities are beautifully maintained, the pools are stunning, and the entire property is surrounded by incredible natural beauty that makes it easy to disconnect, relax, and recharge. What truly sets The Retreat Costa Rica apart, however, is its amazing staff. Every single person I met went above and beyond to make my stay unforgettable. Their genuine care and hospitality made me feel like family. Thank you to everyone at The Retreat Costa Rica for making my birthday so incredibly special. I will always cherish these memories, and I can’t wait to return. I highly recommend this beautiful resort to anyone looking for a world-class wellness retreat and an unforgettable experience.

The breakfast was good. The wifi was exceptional across the property.

− Had work going on in the spa. Work is going on to create a much-needed staircase going up and down the resort For the price paid, I was surprised by the service level, and this concerned me most about the resort We were told we would be given an upgrade, and instead, we had a room with a partial view that I had to inform housekeeping about due to issues inside the room!

Amazing blissful oasis of peace - a true retreat!

The vision and design of the property is amazing. It is beautifully decorated, great amenities, and the views are incredible. The spa services were excellent. I loved all the flora and fauna. The breakfasts were delicious (though you eat what they prepare for you.) I loved how peaceful it was; no children; did not feel crowded, no loud music etc. A true retreat!

− The property is rather isolated and unto itself. It’s down a very steep hill and there are some significant inclines within the property. Good to be aware about that. Without the food package, the menu at Saytosha is rather limited and not for everyone. We wished there had been more options for lunch and dinner - especially since it’s challenging to leave the property, and there are not a lot of restaurants around.

Poor value, not a 5 stat resort.

The views were beautiful! The servers in the restaurant were incredible- so kind and warm. I liked the self serve tea station. Close to the airport for the last stop on our 12 day trip.

− It seems like it’s more about PR and made for influencers than actual quality, heart and attention to detail. The main areas were always a mess- dirty cups, towels and dishes everywhere. There’s no menu- it’s very difficult to order and chose what you would like to eat- and there are no prices- so you have no idea that you are ordering a small cheese plate for $50USD. I understand this is a certain style of dining, but it wasn’t ideal for us. The reception WhatsApp is very unreliable with communication. The spa services you have to book in advance of your stay- which we were not told, it was all sold out so we codling chose the services we wanted. I did get a massage from a cancellation. The practitioner proposed getting a different massage than the one I booked without telling me it was $70 more. The massage also felt unprofessional and perhaps I don’t know what an Ayurvedic massage is, but I do feel that he was pushing the boundaries of what was appropriate. I emailed the hotel in detail about this but did not hear back.
