A lovely overnight stay in a very characterful hotel.

The evening meal I had was excellent and there is an impressive collection of various kinds of schnapps, all distilled by the proprietor who speaks excellent English and supports Stuttgart!. Breakfast is a bit like the ubiquitous buffet style, except each set of guests got their own individual buffet laid oiut on their table - a nice touch. The building is old, in the half timbered style with a lovely interior, especially the bar and restaurant. But the bedrooms have clearly been regularly renovated and have all the modern facilities one would expect today - except air conditioning! It is fairly close to the autobahn so good for an overnight stop, but when I was there there were major roadworks on the autobahn as it gets upgraded from two lanes to three, with the consequential increase in traffic through the town - a sort of rat run. My ultimate test of how good a hotel is - would I stay there again? And in this case most certainly.

− When I arrived, the person behind the bar didn't speak much English, in fact they didn't speak much at all. They were clearly expecting me as a key was thrust into my hand and I was directed to the stairs. Things improved though later when the proprietor was there. He appeared briefly at breakfast and apologised because he had to go and join an online meeting so when I was leaving, the bar area was deserted. As the cost for room had been previously taken from my credit card by Booking.com, and as I had paid for my meal; the night before I just left the room key on the bar and went out to pack the car.. While doing that I noticed one of the cleaners so I went and did my best to explain what I had done. She was very nice and friendly and indicated that all was OK (English was not her strong point either!)

Nette Begrüßung beim Einchecken. Kostenloser Parkplatz direkt gegenüber.

− Der Gasthof liegt an einer Straße und es ist auch abends/nachts relativ laut, da es sehr viel Durchgangsverkehr gibt. Rings um den Gasthof sieht es ziemlich unordentlich aus, was auf den Bildern nicht erkennbar ist. Was mich am meisten gestört hat, ist der nicht saubere und unangenehm riechende Gastraum. Alles ist vollgestellt, der Thekenbereich sieht wüst aus, Dreck unter den Tischen und Scherben, die am nächsten Tag auch noch dalagen. Die Füße klebten fast am Boden fest. Das Frühstück konnte ich so nicht wirklich genießen. Schade.
