If you are looking for a Costa Rica jungle adventure, then this is the place for you. Gorgeous property in the heart of the jungle, but close to great restaurants and stuff to do. Wildlife at your front door! The hosts were great, available and went above and beyond. The private tours they facilitated were excellent and the property is well maintained with lush plants, trees and views. If you are lucky, Miki the dog will come visit you and he is a sweetheart. One of the highlights of our trip.

− If you don't want a jungle adventure, then this place is not for you. Actually, in all fairness, if you don't like bugs, the outdoors, wildlife, you know, the jungle, then Costa Rica is not for you. This place was great for exactly what it is. Do your research on Costa Rica before you travel.

Wonderful Peaceful Stay in Lush Bijagua Retreat

Hana's Celeste Retreat was fabulous in a number of ways. First, Bijagua is really traditional community right on the highway. It is not a flashy touristy place. The benefit of that was that we were able to have several excellent traditional meals, Casados (meaning "married man"), which were well priced, tasty and satisfying meal consisting of white rice, black beans, a protein (beef, chicken, fish, or pork), a fresh side salad, and sweet plantains. It is great! Second, the hosts were very welcoming and attentive. Third, the retreat is within a small old growth forest filled outfitted with a small network of well-maintained trails and supporting creatures from sloths to kinkajous. The serious birders in the family went crazy searching the trees for new species to add to their life lists. Each morning was greeted by the howler monkeys making their other-worldly, breathy, gutteral calls. Fourth, the location is good for visiting the nearby Heliconias Hanging Bridges and the Tenorio Volcano National Park. Finally, the facilities were clean and comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms were quite adequate for our family of five. The patio was our hang out spot for reading and sipping drinks. Keep in mind that Bijagua can be rainy and steamy. We were very thankful for the AC units in the retreat. The master bedrooms was very comfortable while the two smaller bedrooms were a little dark and did not have AC, so it is wise to keep the doors open with AC running in the rest of the apartment to generally cool the space. This worked for us and we slept very well. We loved our stay. Thank you Kamal and Bertha.

− There was not much that we didn't like. There is a unit right next to ours that shares a patio, so if it was occupied, we may have had a little less privacy, but even so, it would have just added another more social dimension to our stay.

A lovely home set in glorious location in real Costa Rica.

An exceptional find - beautiful location with well groomed walking trails through jungle, fields, and views. Beautiful gardens. The house was very comfortable for a 3-generational family of five. Lovely covered veranda, toys for kids, great grill. Even a sloth and monkeys! The private tours available were awesome.

Everything! Better than advertised, the place was beautiful and the scenery and trails with wildlife sightings made this stay memorable. This is one of the best places I have ever stayed. The host was fantastic.
