10.0Been in the bush the game birds an been on the limpopo river just a very awesome game lodge
− The part of coming home
Great Value for birders...and does all the essentials (air con; hot water; electricity) 100%
9.0Overall (we booked the family cabin...and we are a couple in mid 60s/USA) in early December (2025), it was excellent for us: much space...a large kitchen, and big glass doors/windows with a nice view. The staff was amazing. We brought them different types of meat, and they did a braai (barbecue) for us each evening (free) - and even made our sweet potatoes on the grill. Both cooks (Nadine and Mavis) were amazing, kind and always looking to help. When we got a flat tire on the property on our own self-drive (that we changed ourselves), the staff called to town and secured a good spare for us...and made sure it was secured properly under the carriage of the car. It is a very well run operation. Included with each stay is a game drive (free)...and we did two night drives and one morning one with Dan, the dad of the family, and senior caretaker. He has been there for 17 years (after retiring as a lawyer in Pretoria). He knew the property intimately, and where to find birds (we are birders) especially Pel's Fishing Owl (we found two pairs and a lone individual). We struck out on Boulder Chats (had them in Botswana). Dan was a good guide. His knowledge and ours on the birds complemented each other.
− We are bird photographers - so need to have the light at a certain angle (at our backs)...unobstructed views if possible. Dan was at best so-so in getting us into the right position to get the the shots of perched owls and others.
Disappointing
4.0− After the entrance gate there are far too few signposts towards the reception. Because the ride takes 15 min.The location is very remote, so you have to drive far to do your shopping (in our case in a self catering lodge). The reception offered no opportunity to buy any small groceries. The game drives were disappointing. Daan had nothing to say about the animals or nature and just drove us around.
Exceptional
10.0Birdlife is exquisite!!!
A wonderful place
10.0Everything was just perfect. On the morning game drive we didn't see many animals but the landscape along the river was stunning.
− Nothing. I liked everything there. There was even a cleaning service for our clothes.
The hosts is very knowledgeable and kind. The food is delicious and in line with the pricing.
8.0The rooms was clean and staff helpful and friendly. The property is in a lush area with lovely trees. There’s a beautiful camping area on the bank of the river. Amazing views from the top of the hill and bird life.
− The property is advertised as a nature reserve. Unfortunately the animals is skittish due to hunting that’s allowed - that is the remaining one’s. It should be advertised as such to help customers decide weather it’s what they’re looking for.
