8.0Kiboko Lodge feels very 'genuine'. The staff were all wonderful and very helpful. We had a tour of the village and schools as well as the coffee 'experience'. All of them were very informative.
− The water supply is limited which could put some people off staying here.
It was a peaceful and serene place to stay.
8.0The lodge is located on the edge of a meadow in a beautiful place. Both the lodge and bungalows are very clean and comfortable. I felt completely taken care of! I really like that the lodge is affiliated with the Watoto Foundation and provides training and jobs to youth who are supported by the Foundation, and that revenue from the lodge helps the Foundation as well. I enjoyed getting to know the staff, and Frank and Joyce were wonderful.
− I found it difficult to be located so far from Arusha, because I had to pay for transport to and from Arusha when I wanted to go there.
I experienced great hospitality, grounding excursions with locals into the lodge's neighbourhood
8.0This is the perfect lodge to escape the usual bubble of Tanzania safari tourism. The lodge is run by the in partnership of the Watoto Foundation, which actively improves and improves the life of street children in Tanzania. - Food was good and prepared with love and care. - Breakfast was great, lot of fresh fruit, eggs to order and big portion - Dinner was served in multiple courses. All nice, daily changing menu - The lodge is run by solar energy so expect romantic lighting and a positive feeling of remoteness. My highlights were: - Coffee walk with local guide and women from the neighbouring village preparing coffee from green bean to roasting and brewing while singing Tanzania songs. - Reading, meditation and spending time in the Tea room with view on the picture perfect swamp… waiting for the hippo to come by. - Looking at the sky at night while sitting by the outside fireplace - Visit of the neighbouring National park
− Set up : - Wi-Fi and charging only works in the main house. - The huts/rooms are spacious and could do with a little bit of paint but have out water and mosquitos netting. By the way there were very little mosquitos. - Food:I missed a little bit of a Tanzanian touch on the dishes. All felt quiet European and I am sure that many people like it this way. All the plates and cups were produced nearby.
