9.0Privacy, facilities, communication
Sehr gute Lage: ruhig und im Grünen und zentral für das Tongario-Crossing
8.0Die Klimaanlage bzw. Heizung hat uns bei dem plötzlichen Kalt- und Regenwettereinbruch gerettet.

9.0Fun few days in the 'jungle'. Basic but pleasant stay and ideal location to see the National Park and southern tip of lake Taupo. Lots of nice hikes/walks nearby and we recommend the Tokaanu thermal pool: so relaxing after a long hike.
Nice enough but too small
7.0The electric heating pad on the mattress was great. It was wonderful getting into a warm bed. Kitchen and bathroom were adequate. Large shower area and plenty hot water but bring your own shampoo and conditioner. The soap in the shower seemed like hand soap. No salt but there was black pepper. Kitchen has sink, microwave, two-burner hot plate, small refrigerator, and sufficient plates, bowls and utensils. The deck outside is covered and offers some more space if it’s warm enough.
− The kitchen/bedroom is very small. To get to the far side of the bed you shimmy through the small space between the bed and the window. And don’t kick the bed posts. That hurts. No room to leave an open suitcase on the floor. If you need something in the suitcase you open it up, take what you need then close it up and put it against a wall to get it out of the way. There’s no heating other than the mattress pad. I was hoping the air conditioner blower might double as a heater but it just blew cool air regardless of the mode of operation. There’s very limited shelf space. There’s another small room connected to the bathroom. Access is from outside the cottage (see wooden step in exterior photo). Another bathroom? Who has access? We heard footsteps, running water and the door closing occasionally. We thought someone was on the porch but nobody there. Don’t know what that was about.
Set tone for Tongariro NP
7.0Natural setting and walk to river
− Attached washroom for campers was noisy
Perfect spot for our walk in the Park.
9.0A feeling of seclusion with the accommodation being nicely nestled in native bush. Very quiet with just the sound of Bell birds. Very handy to the National Park.
− A little bit tight on space and couldn’t connect to internet, but not a big issue.
