Beautiful location in the countryside with lush green forests around you. Spacious bathroom. Comfortable beds. Working desk / chairs. Generally responsive host (albeit based remotely) with a helpful assistant. Clean garden with well maintained pool.

A few issues: - the house is located in the back alley with a dirt track - after a bit of rainfall the road becomes impassable. My husband was the one who had to 'improvise' a bridge over a huge puddle in the first instance. The issue has been 'patched' only after we have asked the landlady to act. The housekeeper who had to drive through the big puddle herself every day - seemingly didn't care much. Inertia and indifference sends a specific signal to the guests. - the stove in the kitchen broke down during our 10 days stay and albeit it was replaced with a new one in the end - I think the issue required at least 3 iterations to 'fix' it. We'd prefer it would have been done once and properly. - the biggest issue of them all: this place is NOT a quiet retreat, although it seems like it. It is surrounded by locals blasting music from as early as 7:30am until 9pm in the evening. This is not one mad neighbour. It's the whole village almost 'rotating' the noise and the right to use the loudspeakers at their full capacity. After trying to speak to the locals in person we have received shrugs with explanation 'We know it is loud and late and so what'. To every instance of noise nuisance reported to the host we were receiving information that this is 'a ceremony, and it is allowed by the village head'. I don't know how true is that, but we mostly heard just pop music blasted out loud, mostly with Indonesian lyrics and on our last day - karaoke with very visibly drunk person behind the microphone (mind you this one started at 8am in the morning). We have initially planned a 3 week stay but decided to flee early after we have been advised that the next 'ceremony' will be lasting between 4 to 5 days.

Mountains and the beach.

9.0

The private swimming pool and the wonderful mountain views. The beach was only a 10 minute walk away. Some lovely restaurants. Aldi Resto and Amed beach hotel were great. There is a cleaner (Kadec) who is very nice who comes around in the morning. Apart from that you are on your own So you need to go into the village to enquire about snorkeling, etc. There is a well enough stocked small supermarket near the beach 10 min walk. Wi-Fi was very good. I managed to conduct a webinar.

The signage from the road is misleading as there is a sign on the wrong side road. Need to call owner to get correct directions. You need to bring your own sugar, salt, coffee etc.. The cutlery and crockery are pretty basic.
