A Hidden Paradise in the Canadian Rockies

We had the most wonderful stay at Rocky Mountain Escape. Tucked away on the edge of Alberta’s Willmore Wilderness Park and surrounded by towering conifers, this retreat truly feels like a hidden paradise. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely removed from the noise and rush of everyday life. Wildlife was part of the experience too — rabbits, deer, and squirrels were frequent visitors right outside the front yard, which made our stay feel even more special. What we loved most was the peaceful simplicity of the retreat. There was no phone distraction and no TV — just quiet evenings by the cosy fireplace, enjoying a cup of aromatic coffee and chocolate after long hikes on the surrounding walking trails. The cabin itself was very comfortable and thoughtfully equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed, so the only thing we had to bring was food, which made preparing meals during our stay easy and enjoyable. Gary, the owner, was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and he made us feel at home straight away. He recommended some amazing walking tracks, and the view from Rock Lake Viewpoint was absolutely breathtaking. This was exactly the kind of peaceful nature escape we had hoped for. We loved every moment of our stay and would happily return again one day.

The log cabin was amazing! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Being off grid was so refreshing! Gary was there to great us, made the fire for when we got there. He was so helpful and gave us loads of advice and walk to do. Always around if any questions or queries. The log cabin was spotless and well equipped.

Peaceful and unique stay.

The dome was such a unique property that we loved our stay in. It was really cleverly laid out, we loved the outside patio area with the griddle and fire pit which was great for dinners in the evening. We were lucky enough to have clear nights and the stars you could see through the top of the dome whilst laying in bed were absolutely incredible. Gary and Julie were great hosts, very welcoming and gave all info we needed on arrival, including helping us with our luggage in the buggy up to the dome. They gave good advice on hikes to do, as well as surrounding wildlife. Overall we really enjoyed our peaceful and relaxed couple of days here.

− Not a negative as we enjoyed how remote it was but the driveway up to the property is an interesting drive, definitely recommend an all wheel drive vehicle.
