9.0Clean and comfortable lodge. Situated in beautiful grounds and very close to York. Food at JJ's was excellent and staff were friendly.

Left us a little disappointed.
6.0The lodge is more spacious than a caravan. The hot tub is nice to relax in. The surrounding area is lovely. It was neat and relatively tidy. It is dog friendly.
− There was a piece of glass in the hot tub and I scratched myself while in there. The lodge had a very strong dog smell. I have two dogs myself so I know it can be difficult to get the smell out but this was strong as though it hadn't been cleaned properly. The bed was very uncomfortable. The lodge kitchen lacked basic items to cook properly. There wasn't salt or even a sponge to wash dishes. The heating wasn't working when we got there so it was very cold. The shower was a bit grimy as though it needed a good clean. The quality of the lodge was similar to a caravan rather than somewhere you pay almost £200 a night for. This stay was a bit disappointing as I have previously booked a lodge here(Yew Tree Lodge) and it was amazing. I don't know whether this is up to the owners of the lodge or the site owners. We won't stay here again.
We were after a quiet and relaxing stay, in lovely surroundings. The hot tub was perfect.
9.0We did self catering and had everything we needed in the well equipped kitchen. You could have eaten at the on site restaurant.
