Exceptional – far beyond 5 stars!
10.0I’ve stayed in several lodges in Welgevonden Game Reserve over the years, but nothing comes close to Metsi Lodge. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home while still enjoying an incredible level of luxury and service. The exclusivity was a huge highlight for us – we had no other guests during our stay, which made the experience truly special. Having exclusive use of the lodge, safari vehicle, and guide meant we could organize our days exactly as we wished: flexible safari times, meal schedules tailored to us, and the ability to adapt everything to our children’s needs. Being able to take the kids on safari with us was unforgettable and something that really sets Metsi apart. The staff and hosts were exceptionally warm, friendly, and attentive, always anticipating our needs without ever being intrusive. Geoffroy, the owner, is remarkable – with over 30 years of hands-on experience in African conservation, his knowledge goes far beyond what you usually hear at lodges. Listening to him speak about conservation, learned from decades of boots-on-the-ground experience rather than textbooks, added so much depth and meaning to our stay. Our guide, Bella, was fantastic – knowledgeable, engaging, and wonderful with the children. Isaac, the Chef, spoiled us with delicious, diverse, truly five-star meals every day. Constance and Gift, who looked after the lodge and our rooms, were absolutely adorable and paid attention to every single detail, making us feel genuinely cared for. Metsi Lodge offers the rare combination of intimacy, flexibility, luxury, and authenticity. Our stay was well above anything we’ve experienced before – truly beyond 5 stars. We will definitely be back and cannot recommend Metsi Lodge highly enough.
