Rustic charm

6.0

If you are looking for rustic charm in an old original building, then you will find it here. The location was good for trips to Porto and Douro, with plenty of big supermarkets close by. Flavia sent us some great tips for places to visit.

Overall we felt this property is not worth the almost €1500 price we paid for a week’s stay. The main thing that disappointed us was that the downstairs bedroom is dark and the attached bathroom had black mould so the room smelled of damp and sewage whilst water dripped through the ceiling. The property has potential, but it felt a little neglected and it is not really set up for 4 guests to relax indoors. Issues that previous guests reported in their review had not been fixed before our stay and Flavia appeared to be surprised about them when we raised our concern. We temporarily fixed some things (eg broken clothes dryer and broken shower head) and bought new chairs so we could use the outdoor space. Attempts were made to resolve some of our concerns but the stay didn’t meet our expectations given the price.

Who wouldn’t love to stay in a 300 plus year old stone home with all the modern convenience.

It was beautiful, private and had everything we needed. We had a perfect base for our trips into Porto. We also had a few fabulous meals locally and used the train into Porto

The showers didn’t have much pressure and the drain cover lifted with the water in the tray, it needed a bit of a clean. The oven door doesn’t seal properly

Lovely

9.0

The house and grounds are lovely, a little bit of country in the suburbs. Flavia the hostess was charming and ran through things with us. It's easy to access Porto from the station a ten minute walk away. There are restaurants nearby, which are excellent. Also there is a big supermarket within walking distance. Loved this place, the perfect place from which to visit Porto. We would certainly return.

No complaints, other than obviously because it is close to the motorway and railway, there is a little noise, but nothing intrusive.
