Exceptional
10.0This place was fantastic, we loved it! We lived in the lower (and bigger) of the two apartments, and found the size of the place just ideal for our family (two adults + one child + one baby). The kitchen was very well equipped (although the stone of the raclette grill has clearly been used heavily in the past -- it could benefit from a deep clean), and we appreciated that it was possible to borrow some toys for the older boy (such as Lego) in the basement. The way the accommodation is set-up, with various little items (such as coffee capsules, trash bags, even some food essentials) available to buy in the cellar, has been very convenient. The bathroom is exceptionally spacious. There also is a laundry machine in the basement, which we also used at one point. We often enjoyed breakfasts and dinners at the balcony, which offers a truly magnificent view of the valley -- we even dined outside when it rained, since the table and chairs on the balcony are placed under a roof (and even in rain the place often looked magical -- we were lucky to observe a wonderfully bright double rainbow!) The ~150 year old original(!) tourist map of the region, which is hang up (behind a glass) in the living room, was a nice touch. I also admired the copy of Tabula Nova Heremi Helveriot on the wall behind the sofa. In fact, there are plentiful little (and often rather old) drawings on the walls, which make the place feel very cozy (although some of the pictures next to the dining table I found a bit disturbing..) We found the location very convenient. It is elevated high enough above the valley to offer fantastic views. Besides all the attractions in Brigels, and a trip on foot to the ruins of castle Kropfenstein, we drove by car to enjoy trips in nearby Disentis, Flims, and Obersaxen. Mrs Wildi was very helpful and replied promptly when we reached out to her with questions by email. We would not hesitate to stay at Casa Vesta Magnifica again, and can only recommend it to others.
− Our experience was fantastic overall, but of course some there are always some little things that don't go ideally. For example, for a part of our stay, there was another family with 3 children accommodated in the small apartment on the upper floor. While everyone were very friendly, this at times led to rather unpleasant noises in our room, e.g. (I assume) when moving chairs across the floor. The chalet has its age, and the sounds insulation is not ideal. Also, sometimes we found no hot water running in the kitchen & bathroom -- perhaps the water boiler is too small to serve that many visitors all at once. However, these were just occasional small problems. Still a 10/10 rating from us.
