Bit of a money grab
3.0I booked for two nights ahead of a long India visit before my rental was ready. As luck would have it, my flight was hours late, so I arrived at HP at 4am, having been told they’d have staff around the clock. Dark and deserted, I waited on my suitcase in the driveway until 7am for my first ‘night’ until someone appeared. Had I booked for just the one night, I would have had about 3 hours in a room. A nice gesture WOULD have been to offset the night by some percentage if you cared about a guest but no such luck. I paid $160 usd for two nights. On leaving, I was waiting at the road for my taxi and an employee drove down the driveway on a scooter to ask if I paid 150 rupees for the coffee I took earlier that morning (I did assume it was a comp). Felt very much like a money grab, sorry to say.
Bad
1.0Damp dark far from beach asked for a refund and didn’t get one. Staff was nice but accommodation was not acceptable and high price for what was given
− Smell of mold and dark room felt like a jail
A peaceful stay and retreat away from the hustle of Arombol but we were unlucky with their organisation
8.0The property felt very peaceful nestled in nature and with a beautiful yoga studio which got the morning light. A lovely food menu but 80% unavailable at the time we were staying.
− We were moved 3 times in the space of 5 days and when we asked for compensation they could only offer 50% for the night that we had slept in a room which was considerably lower standard than we booked. The team tried to be as accommodating as possible with some free drinks which was sweet but it was disappointing seeing as we were paying quite a large amount.

Pleasant
6.0It was quiet at night for Indian circumstances. People were nice.
− Room wasn’t clean, specially the bathroom and bed sheets… not workshops or community hang out happened as it looked like online… The stay was okay but for this level of quality a little bit over priced
Good
7.0The grounds are lovely and the staff are very friendly and attentive. I enjoyed the communal nature of the property
− As a female solo traveller, I had a real issue with the location. It is quite remote and far away from the rest of the tourist-friendly places in Mandrem which made the 15 minute walk to the beach very uncomfortable - men slowed down their cars and bikes to stare at me, talk to me and even follow me. Everything else about the property was great but just a word of warning if you are travelling alone as a western woman!
