The Escape at Nonsuch Bay — A Beautiful Retreat with a Few Areas for Improvement

8.0

The Escape at Nonsuch Bay is a stunning, peaceful retreat and the rooms are absolutely fantastic — the plunge pool suites are a real highlight, offering privacy, comfort and breathtaking views that genuinely make this feel like a special getaway. The staff are, for the most part, wonderfully warm and welcoming, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere throughout the resort. It is worth noting that on occasion one or two team members can come across as a little abrupt, though this was very much the exception rather than the rule. The bar is well run and perfectly sufficient for the size of the resort — no complaints there at all. However, on the subject of value for money, we felt the food offering did not quite match the premium all-inclusive price point. Both the lunch and dinner menus are notably restrictive, offering only 2 to 3 starters and 3 main courses — which, whilst freshly prepared, left us wanting more variety. For guests staying longer than a week, be aware that the menu rotates weekly, meaning you may find yourself faced with identical choices in your second week. The highlight of the dining experience is undoubtedly the weekly BBQ buffet evening, which offers a welcome change of pace and a much wider selection — thoroughly enjoyable and something the resort could perhaps consider offering more frequently. There are several practical points worth flagging for future guests. Mosquitoes can be a real issue in the evening. The hotel does fumigate two to three times per week, which is appreciated, but given the resort's natural surroundings it may be worth exploring additional measures. There is no shop nearby, so we would strongly recommend packing mosquito repellent and sun cream before you travel — you will not easily find either once you arrive. On the subject of getting around, we would strongly advise hiring a rental car for the duration of your stay. All transport to local attractions, restaurants and excursions beyond the resort relies entirely on taxis, which can quickly become expensive, particularly if you plan to explore the island during your stay. A rental car gives you the freedom to explore Antigua at your own pace and at a fraction of the cost of repeated taxi journeys. Overall, The Escape at Nonsuch Bay is a genuinely lovely resort with beautiful rooms and a wonderful setting. With a more varied menu, some additional mosquito management in the evenings, and a rental car to hand, you will be well placed to get the very best out of this hidden Caribbean gem.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Review

10.0

My stay at The Escape at Nonsuch Bay was absolutely incredible from beginning to end. If you’re looking for a peaceful, adults-only all-inclusive resort to truly relax and disconnect, this is the place. The resort is beautifully maintained, with stunning views of the bay and a quiet, intimate atmosphere that never felt crowded. Our suite was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and having a private plunge pool made the experience even more special. The staff were exceptional—warm, friendly, and always willing to go above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Their hospitality made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The food was fresh and flavorful, with a nice variety of options throughout our stay. We also loved taking advantage of the complimentary water activities, and the resort’s location made it easy to explore Antigua through excursions like Shirley Heights, the Rum Academy, and the St. Mary’s Mud Buggy Adventure. Whether you’re celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, or simply need a relaxing getaway, The Escape at Nonsuch Bay is the perfect destination. I left feeling refreshed, recharged, and already planning my next visit. I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for a luxurious and tranquil Caribbean escape. Antigua truly stole my heart!

Beautiful room with the best view

8.0

We loved the room and the beautiful view and clean pool. The fridge only gets filled once and then you have to get the top uoa from the beach bar. Beach is ok but not the best, the seaweed is smelly but they do their best to keep it so you can step into the sea.it was fabulously quiet in June when we went though. You can get snacks at the beach bar too. We braved a walk up and down the steep hill to the beach a few times. The meal choices were good and a decent amount considering every meal was three courses if you wanted. I would definitely recommend hiring a car for a few days with Pete's taxis. They do a drop off service at the hotel. The staff are all great, the grackle birds are entertaining at meal times and the view of the bay is beautiful.

A great holiday

Great place to stay food was really good . Plunge pool at the room was fabulous . Staff were lovely Quite noisy round the pool with some of the other guests. Also quite remote would’ve been nice to have a little shop nearby or in the resort each room also had to pay for a taxi even if sharing . Overall a great holiday and would recommend.

Fantastic holiday!

10.0

The Escape Nonsuch bay was such a wonderful place to holiday. We wanted quiet and relaxed and it delivered this in spades. As others have said, the staff are incredible and so welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed the pool and bar area in the mornings and the sun shone onto the private pools in the afternoons. The resort itself offers excursions like romantic boat rides and snorkeling to green island nearby to see turtles, and they also sorted transport and everything else for anything else you may wish to do. We met couples celebrating anniversaries or there with friends so it was a nice atmosphere at the bar in the evenings. It is definitely an inclusive place and everyone was equally welcomed regardless who they're with, or anything else. It is all about smiles and good times. My husband and I did a private boat tour at sunset with champagne which I would definitely recommend to see the area around the resort, and get lovely pictures. The food varied each day, and also didn't just repeat for the second week we were there. It was all delicious and varied. All in all, I would highly recommend this resort. There is a beach a short walk away over the hill but if you are set on beaches, then the west side on the island has larger ones. However, the bay is very beautiful and full of wildlife which we really liked. Thank you to everyone there, we were sad to leave.
