Sweet location but disappointing stay
6.0The shepherds hut is located in a farm, in a wooded area, in front of a pond. The setting is really picturesque - even in winter which is when we went, so I would guess that it's pretty dreamy in summer. The hut itself is bigger than expected, decorated well, and gets warm easily in winter thanks to the indoor fire. There is also a fire pit outside, in front of the pond, so you can have BBQ weather permitting.
− The hut contains a chemical toilet within the bathroom. This is not a negative per se. On arrival we were told that the liquid that flushes the toilet had run out and to use a cup of water for the time being - that it would be sorted the following morning. However, this did not happened at all at any point of the stay. After two days and two nights at the hut, it became pretty unpleasant and smelly, let alone unhygienic having to use one of the only 2 drinking cups for flushing every time one of us went to the bathroom. We stayed at the hut for two nights and, although kindling and logs were provided, we ran out of kindling before the end of the first evening. There is no heater in the hut beyond the indoor stove, and we came in December, so that meant that the evening finished pretty chilly and the morning was much colder still. We requested kindling for the second afternoon / evening and it was provided. However, we also ran out as it was a fairly small bag. If you are not extremely seasoned with making fires and / or you go in winter it's definitely not enough. The hut has a built in area for a bed. However, the mattress is clearly too big for that space, hanging off the side of the bed considerably and one of the bottom corners wrapping up the bed post. The mattress itself has seen better days, making all together sleep quite uncomfortable and giving the bed area quite an untidy look. A few other bits throughout the stay could be improved. - Very limited crockery provided - one of everything except small/breakfast bowls (there was only one of those in total). - No kitchen dishcloth or anything to wipe surfaces with provided (we requested a dishcloth and one was supplied then).
Will definitely return. Was the perfect quiet getaway. Beautiful and cosy

Peaceful, lovely location.
7.0We loved the location, the surroundings, and the hut was really relaxing. Just what we needed
− The toilet, lack of cooking facilities
Good
7.0Location was idyllic. We would have appreciated some basic items such as coffee and tea!
− The bed could have been more comfortable-the mattress was oversized for the bed
