Extremely Dissapointing and Unsafe Experience. Not at all suitable for families with babies.
1.0Nothing. Only the staff.
− Extremely Disappointing and Unsafe Experience – Absolutely Not Suitable for Families with Babies Please think very carefully before booking this property, especially if you are travelling with an infant or young child. We checked into Mugilu Homestay expecting a peaceful nature stay, but what we experienced was shocking, unhygienic, and deeply stressful. Within a short time of entering the room, we noticed torn bedsheets, old and worn-out bedding, dust and dirt accumulated around the bed area, and poorly maintained washroom facilities with old, stained buckets and mugs. There was no electric kettle or any provision for hot water in the room, which is a basic necessity when travelling with an 8-month-old baby. The most alarming issue, however, was the presence of insects and leeches inside the room. We found a leech crawling in the washroom which was horrifying. Later that evening, after returning from sight seeing, we discovered another leech inside the room itself. Throughout our stay, there were numerous flies and insects around the property, and I woke up with my skin irritated and swollen from insect bite. At one point, an insect had even crawled inside our baby’s diaper. As parents, that was absolutely horrifying. As a result, we spent almost the entire night awake, worried about our baby’s safety rather than enjoying our holiday. We have travelled extensively across India, stayed at many nature resorts, eco-resorts, and properties in forested regions, and we fully understand that insects are part of nature. However, nature is not an excuse for poor maintenance, inadequate cleanliness, or the absence of basic preventive measures. What made the experience even worse was the owner’s attitude. When we raised our concerns regarding the leeches and safety issues, instead of listening to customer feedback, Mr.Chandan became defensive and dismissive. We were told that we “don’t know how a leech looks” and that we “don’t understand the Western Ghats.
Exceptional
10.0A Serene Escape at Mugilu Homestay, Sakleshpur Nestled amidst the enchanting greenery of lush forests and sprawling coffee plantations, Mugilu Homestay is truly a hidden gem that offers a refreshing retreat into nature. Our recent stay coincided wonderfully with the early monsoon, which gifted us with surprise showers and a mesmerizing mist that wrapped the surroundings in a tranquil embrace. It was simply magical! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted by the warm hospitality of the staff, who were not just polite but incredibly efficient—always just a call away for anything we needed. Our rooms were pristine, the washrooms clean and tidy, providing a perfect haven for relaxation after a day of exploring. The views from our room's glass windows and balcony were nothing short of breathtaking, transforming our mornings into serene experiences as we sipped coffee while soaking in the beauty of nature. The food served was a true highlight of our experience. Despite a limited menu, each dish felt like a heartfelt home-cooked meal—light, flavorful, and perfect for all ages. Every bite made us appreciate the care and attention the kitchen staff put into their offerings. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. Chandan, Mr. Anand, Mr. Rakesh, and Mr. Guddu, who went above and beyond to ensure our staycation was delightful. Mr. Chandan's insights into nearby sites of interest added so much value to our trip, allowing us to explore the best of the surrounding area. In summary, Mugilu Homestay is the ideal spot for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with nature, combined with exceptional service and home-like comfort. We left with cherished memories and a desire to return. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a peaceful getaway! 🌿✨
− Would have been nice if WiFi was included. Also electric kettle in room would be helpful during the monsoons so that the staff neednt be troubled often for the same.
