A friendly, kind place with lots of attention, concern for your comfort and care

This is a family home in a gated community, and the rooms are wrapped around the main house. Mine was small, and I had a big bed with the kind of layered blankets I dearly love for cold nights. The hostess' family is exceedingly kind; Gonzalo (one of the two sons) spoke English and he and the rest of the family were most helpful in getting me around (Paolo is the taxi driver and I used him every single day to get to the local mall for supplies). I fell madly in love with their Akita puppy, who decided to land on my bed the day of my departure as though he wanted to come along. The hostess is a lawyer, the two boys helpful and always ready to be of service. I really appreciated having a small fridge in the room (although I had it set WAY too high and froze everything one night). They were concerned that there was a miscommunication about picking me up at the airport and I ended up with free coffee for four days, which was more than enough to make up for the minor mistake. As an added bonus, they have a big comfy RV you can rent if you want to hoof it yourself out into the Atacama. They also let me lounge by their pool in the back of the house while I rested in preparation for my big ride in the desert. Kito was happy to give me a kiss (see photo below).

Somewhere along the way we missed communicating about getting picked up at the airport. This isn't Santiago so it's a small place, so it's just not that big a deal. Other than that, which was a very small thing, everything went very well.
