1.0My husband and I cancelled this on arrival. Due to not liking anything this place had to offer.
− On arrival there was no "on the drive" parking. The drive was consumed by a huge caravan, an SUV and an old Mazda. We drive an SUV ourselves and so unless you had a Fiat 500, you were parking on the road. We had to shimmy between the caravan and SUV to access the door. The exterior of the property is tired and hardly inviting. The owner took a wee while to open the door and had to call his mum to check our reservation. He was not exactly warm and friendly on the welcome. He showed us our "Deluxe double". To be perfectly honest the smells of sweat in the house and the unhygienic smell and appearance, rugs with debris, dust, stains on chair and cushions. It was tired and smelly. Not bothered about sharing a bathroom, but you expect it to all be clean. How this place has high reviews I have no idea. We never looked at the pool as others have commented on "cloudiness " and I felt i would have caught something staying here. I have complained to booking.com and the owner refused a refund. But to be honest I would have felt more comfortable sleeping in my car, at least it smelt clean and is clean. I can only believe a lot of people's choose this place as it has a pool and like us, we were excited. But I didn't get as far as that as there was no way I would have ever have risked staying in a property smelling of sweat and looking unclean. Being very out dated is one thing, being unclean and smelly, is another. We are not snobs, but would advise you reconsidering the £80 cheap and cheerful and spend on a local travellodge, at least youre guaranteed a warmer reception and it smells and is fresh. Owner is delusional if they believe this is Deluxe! My only regret is that we did not take photos to warn others. However the smell got to us so badly we had to get out ASAP. Money lost and lesson learnt.
