Booked based on ratings but very disappointing!
2.0Location was good as it was near to the bioluminescent bay, by auto was just about 10-15 mnts. Room was good. Breakfast was ok, 2 items only.
− Booked this homestay based on reviews, but it turned into a very disappointing experience, one of the worst despite having traveled to 22 countries. The owner insisted on a ₹1000 advance payment, despite that Booking.com specified we can pay at the property. Although informed about our early train arrival, no support was given; instead, we were told to roam around as “there’s nothing to do in Kumbalangi.” We reached at 10:30 AM but were forced to wait outside in the balcony (which we again insisted to provide sitting area), Owner also said there is no Bathroom available and it is only inside the rooms, hence finish everything and then land up only around 1pm. It was hot, humid weather despite no guests being present we were allowed into the room only around 12:30 PM (Booking.com shows 12 PM check‑in). The common fridge was dirty and foul‑smelling. Meals mentioned in reviews were unavailable due to LPG issues, and finding vegetarian food nearby was extremely difficult. The stairs to the first floor is very narrow and inconvenient for luggage. Lastly, we were asked to pay an extra ₹105 as GST, which was not included in the Booking.com price. Overall, poor hospitality and misleading information.

10.0Very kind host who arranged a boat and fishing tour for me on the backwaters at a very reasonable rate. They also were kind enough to cook up some dry beans I bought. A very comfortable stay.
