10.0We had a wonderful 10-day family holiday in the mountains: Heiligenblut is an ideal place for those who like remote places, not crowded with tourists, but it is right at the foot of the Grossglockner and next to the beautiful alpine route. The apartment is located on the outskirts of Heiligenblut in a quiet area, next to a stream and waterfalls, where you enjoy the crowing of roosters in the morning. We stayed in a three-bedroom apartment on the third floor with a large balcony, where it is nice to have breakfast and dinner, and a beautiful view of the valley and mountains. We liked that: the apartment is very clean and spacious; although the equipment is not very modern, everything is of good quality and well maintained; there are two bathrooms and a living-dining room, a dishwasher, a coffee machine (uses coffee beans), there is everything you need for cooking; you can use the washing machine (ask the host). The host Josef is very friendly and nice person. Practical tips: there were dishwasher tablets, but no soap or shower gel/shampoo in the bathrooms, so you need to bring your own; the frying pan is of excellent quality, made of stainless steel, but for those used to non-stick pans it may be a challenge to fry an egg :) By the way, it takes longer to boil eggs at 1300 meters above sea level :) the ticket for the Alpine route is bit cheaper when bought at the tourist information center (located in Heiligenblut); the selection of groceries in the Heiligenblut Adeg store is quite limited, so it is worth taking a trip to Döllach (on the way to many great hiking trails). Overall rating: highly recommended, great place for nature lovers.
