Roomy, well-appointed vacation apartment in a convenient location near Salzburg
10.0We stayed in the Grassman vacation apartment for four nights in May and were extremely pleased with the overall experience. It's spacious, very well appointed, comfortable, and private. It has a full-size washer and dryer in the apartment, a dishwasher, stove and oven, etc. Of special positive note is the host/owner Thomas, who speaks English very well and patiently answered all our questions and was always available either in person or quickly via WhatsApp or Booking.com message. We have rarely found such a welcoming and helpful host in our several decades of renting vacation apartments in Europe. Regarding the location, it's perfectly located for seeing all the area has to offer during a multi-day visit to the Salzburg area. Salzburg city center is easily reached by car in 15 minutes, or by train in about 25 minutes (train station is a 10-12 min walk from the apartment, and the train to Salzburg is free with the included guest card). Bad Reichenhall is very close and easily accessed by car (under 10 minutes) or bus/train (again, free with guest card). We did a day trip to Chiemsee, which is about 20 minutes away by car. Berchtesgaden, Zell am See, etc., are also easily accessed. For visitors with a vehicle it's ideal and has free parking right in front of the apartment. If you don't have a car it may not be the best, but it's still workable, by train. And, since it's just off the popular Tauernradweg, it's perfect for bike tourists (we saw several staying at the adjacent guest house during our stay). Really, the location is ideal, assuming you want to see more than just Salzburg itself. The apartment is located outside of the main part of Piding town, in more of a residential area, but there are multiple supermarkets nearby (Aldi and Rewe are easily walkable), a bakery for morning rolls, etc. We would definitely stay there again.
− Although the host speaks English well and communication was easy, most (if not all) of the written materials in the apartment are in German only. Given the international clientele that comes to the area, it would a good investment to have basic info in English available, too. Not much else to complain about except for the few rainy days we had while we were there :-(
We had a pleasant holiday in a great flat.
